Design Engineer (Mechanical/ Industrial)
Summary
Design Engineer creates 3D models and production-ready mechanical designs for hardware products, selecting manufacturing processes and iterating through prototyping and testing.
What You Will Do
- Translate client briefs, sketches, and samples into production-ready 3D models.
- Select suita prble manufacturingocesses based on cost, volume, tolerance, finish, and lead time.
- Apply DFM principles across additive manufacturing, CNC, moulding, sheet metal, and injection moulding.
- Design functional assemblies, enclosures, brackets, jigs, fixtures, housings, and mechanisms. Even integration of hardware such as PCBs, batteries, sensors, cameras, LiDAR, cable routing, sealing, and ventilation.
- Perform reverse engineering from physical samples, scan data, and 2D drawings.
- Produce technical drawings, GD&T callouts, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
- Prepare files for 3D printing and machining.
- Print, test, troubleshoot, and iterate designs through to the final physical product.
- Prepare client-facing design decks and maintain revision logs.
Requirements

- Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, NX, Inventor and sculpting software such as ZBrush, Blender, Maya or equivalent
- Strong in surface modelling, assemblies, technical drawings, and basic GD&T.
- Understanding of manufacturing defects, tolerances, and design optimisation.
- Knowledge of post-processing techniques such as sanding, painting, plating, dyeing, and vapour smoothing.
- Strong understanding of fasteners, inserts, snap fits, press fits, bearings, and tolerance stacks.
- Able to design enclosures and components around real-world hardware and electronics.
- Basic ability to interpret datasheets and mechanical drawings.
- Strong communication skills with clients, engineers, and manufacturers.
- Clear, concise, and factual written communication.
