Job / Role Summary

The DMTS is a recognized expert (internally and externally) shaping the technical vision for NAND structural and electrical film processes, with influence spanning top-level organizational boundaries. This role leads breakthrough programs impacting the broader engineering group, guides critical roadmap decisions, mentors senior technical leaders, and represents Micron through strategic external collaborations and industry engagement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Shape the technical vision for structural and electrical film processes with enterprise-level impact; own and update the process technology roadmap aligned to business objectives and competitive benchmarks.

  • Lead programs spanning the engineering group to deliver innovative breakthroughs; solve the most challenging technical problems and guide comprehensive RCA/resolution.

  • Influence cross-disciplinary and industry teams through external collaborations; represent Micron in consortia, conferences, and collaborative research initiatives.

  • Develop/advocate strategies for cost savings, process efficiency, and large-scale yield enhancement; assess technical risks and investment priorities.

  • Mentor senior technical leaders and contribute to roadmap decisions that differentiate Micron products.

Other Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-impact technical presentations, white papers, and patent filings; initiate strategic collaborations with external partners (universities/research institutes).

  • Integrates AI assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.

  • Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.

Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

  • PhD ≥15 yrs, or Master’s ≥17 yrs, of relevant experience in
    Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field,

  • With extensive Thin Films R&D/PD experience in NAND including Diffusion/CVD dielectric and carbon-based films

  • Industry recognized innovation leader: patents, publications, invited talks, leadership roles in technical committees/consortia.

Must-Have Technical Skills

  • Mastery of ALD/CVD (plasma and thermal) processes; pioneering new deposition methods/materials/integration strategies for NAND scaling.

  • Deep expertise in reliability modeling, process-device correlation frameworks, and advanced failure analysis across technology generations.

  • Advanced electrical evaluation and metrology strategy; ability to set technical standards and shape industry direction.

Must-Have Soft Skills

  • Enterprise influence; ability to lead through technical authority and mentorship.

  • Strong external engagement and executive communication presence.

Highly Desirable / Preferred

  • Demonstrated track record initiating strategic collaborations and delivering organization-wide technical capability shifts.
