Distinguished Member of Technical Staff (DMTS) – Process Development, Wet, NAND

Leads long-term wet process and chemistry strategy for NAND memory, shaping roadmaps, collaborating with suppliers, and driving technical exclusivity through patents and partnerships.
Role Summary
The DMTS is a top technical authority who shapes long‑term wet process and chemistry strategy, drives external‑facing technical insight into roadmap decisions, and expands Micron’s competitive advantage through supplier exclusivity mechanisms and ecosystem collaboration. Expected to set direction across organizational boundaries, influence long‑term technical investment priorities, and establish external perspectives into internal roadmaps.
Main Responsibilities
Provide vision of future potential of new materials and methods from academic/consortium projects to guide roadmap solution selection.
Interact with equipment and materials suppliers to drive innovative technology development, ensure alignment/progress, and build productive strategic relationships.
Identify, define, and drive SOW agreements to increase Micron exclusivity of equipment/chemistry/process solutions.
Align process technology roadmaps across PD teams and resolve cross‑organizational logistical issues.
Guide and mentor senior technical contributors; sustain a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
Other Responsibilities
Prepare high-impact technical presentations, white papers, and patent filings; initiate strategic collaborations with external partners (universities/research institutes).
Integrates AI assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
PhD ≥15 yrs, or Master’s ≥17 yrs, of relevant experience in
Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or related field,
With extensive wet process development experience
Deep understanding of memory technologies, semiconductor processing/devices, and strong ability to form internal/external collaborations.
Strong record of technical contributions, publications, or patents in relevant domains
Must‑have Technical Skills
Strong understanding of process technology development business processes/strategy, surface science and analytic methods related to material properties, and rational risk assessment.
Possess a deep understanding of the process technologies such as Vapor etch, wet strip, dry strip, selective chemical etching, etc.
Familiarity with electrical evaluation methods and fab metrology tools (e.g., CD‑SEM, thickness measurement, particle counters).
DOE / SPC and data analysis systems (e.g., Y3) to analyze experimental outcomes.
Working knowledge of memory process flow (planar + vertical NAND context).
