FPGA / Mixed-Signal Design Engineer (m/f/d)

Summary

FPGA/SoC design engineer owning the full digital design lifecycle for laser system control and readout, using Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL with AMD/Xilinx or Intel toolchains and Python/MATLAB for verification.

  • Development of FPGA/SoC-based digital designs for the control and readout of complex, robust laser systems
  • Ownership of the full FPGA/SoC development lifecycle: from requirements definition and system architecture through RTL implementation, simulation and prototyping to a qualified product
  • Definition of the digital system architecture in close crossfunctional cooperation with other departments
  • Design and implementation of digital signal processing chains and control loops
  • Bring-up, verification and debugging of FPGA designs on target hardware, including measurements and performance analysis
  • Creation of verification plans, testbenches and test procedures, as well as development of prototypes and support of system-level verification and validation campaigns
  • Documentation of the design according to customer and quality requirements
  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or a comparable qualification
  • 2+ years of experience in FPGA/digital design with Verilog/SystemVerilog and/or VHDL
  • Practical experience with AMD/Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus or comparable toolchains, including synthesis, place-and-route and static timing analysis
  • Experience with SoC platforms and the interplay between Processing System (PS) and Programmable Logic (PL)
  • Solid understanding of digital signal processing fundamentals and experience implementing digital control loops
  • Experience with Python/NumPy or MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm exploration, fixed-point modelling and verification against RTL
  • Enjoyment of hands-on lab work combined with a high level of initiative and sense of responsibility
  • Very good written and spoken English, German is a plus
