Functional Business Analyst
Location: North Sydney Rate: $800 per day + Super Contract length: 12-months
Our client is seeking an experienced Functional Business Analyst to translate complex business, regulatory and operational needs into design-and-build ready requirements, and to maintain traceability across business rules, process models, user stories, user-interface designs, event and integration models, solution designs and test evidence.
You'll work directly with subject matter experts, product owners, architecture, delivery, quality assurance and external technology partners to proactively identify and fill requirements gaps, resolve ambiguity, and drive assigned requirements, decisions and dependencies to verified closure.
Key Responsibilities
Mostly centre on requirements and traceability: gathering, clarifying and baselining requirements; running as-is/to-be gap analysis; owning analysis for an assigned stream end-to-end; building user stories, acceptance criteria, feature files, decision tables and process flows; keeping traceability across business needs, designs, APIs, UI, stories and test evidence; reconciling Figma designs and solution designs against what's delivered; supporting data migration/dual-run analysis; partnering with QA on test coverage and UAT; reviewing vendor deliverables; maintaining decision/assumption/dependency logs; and acting as the go-between for business and technical teams.
About You
Looking for a hands-on Functional BA with 5+ years on complex digital transformation, legacy-modernisation or system-implementation projects (ideally with larger tech integration companies), comfortable in both Waterfall and Agile, and used to working within structured governance and delivery cadences. Strong analytical, documentation and communication skills are expected, along with proficiency writing user stories/acceptance criteria, facilitating workshops, and collaborating across cross-functional teams. Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Office 365, Figma, Miro and requirements/test-management tooling is wanted, plus experience with APIs/integrations, vendor management, QA processes, and data migration or platform-transition projects.
