Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC/SYSADMIN)

Summary

Administers IT systems and cybersecurity controls for a federal power agency, handling access control, incident response, and system maintenance.

This position is part of the Southeastern Power Administration. As an Information Technology Specialist (infosec/sysadmin), you will assist and support the members of the Information Management Team for Southeastern Power Administration's (SEPA) Information Technology Division's Chief Information Officer (CIO).

As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC/SYSADMIN), you will: Assist with ensuring that user access is controlled and monitored, cyber protection controls are implemented correctly; Maintain the record copy of the Certification and Accreditation package for the assigned system, participates in self-assessments on the system, reports individual incident and potential incidents, initiates approved protective or corrective actions, and maintains system Plan of Actions and Milestones; Assist with resource planning, procurement and installation of hardware and software, and diagnosing and resolving technical issues; Perform system administration functions, including managing software releases, controlling system access and security, maintaining configuration integrity, and administering data resources; Monitor and optimize disk usage to ensure efficient and effective system performance; Promote expanded use of IT services, develops policies, and establishes procedures, guidelines, and operating plans for maximum effectiveness and efficiency in the use of IT facilities; Maintain liaison with other agencies for the cooperative exchange of ideas and programs; Coordinate vendor maintenance of IT hardware and software by serving as a technical representative; Support the Operations Center and the systems that impact the bulk electric power in the event of malicious activity targeting the Bulk Electric System. Fosters customer service and user support orientation throughout all data processing functions; Provide user support which includes requirements analysis and problem identification and resolution; Offer various IT alternatives to the users while analyzing the requirements.
