Join our team as an Intensive Adult Residential Care Worker working at our residential site located in Ladner. This permanent part-time role works Friday and Saturday, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM, at a starting rate of pay of $29.17 per hour, plus 10.6% in lieu of benefits. This position requires union membership.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a part-time Intensive Adult Residential Care Worker, you will work 10 hours per week at our staffed home in Ladner. You will be actively engaging supported individuals to live a fulfilling and independent life. You are a motivated and personable individual with a passion to deliver person-centered supports. This means you could be helping an individual to discover more of their community, learn new life-skills such as cooking, physical fitness activities, art classes, or seeking employment. You assist with their physical, social, emotional, educational and recreational needs. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Understanding complex behaviour and consistently responding to it,
  • Following an individual care plan,
  • Developing monthly plans and facilitating activities based on client’s interests,
  • Documenting activities and observations in the client’s file and communication log,
  • Physically assist individuals with activities including swimming, walking, laundry, and recycling
  • Must be physically healthy to aid in lifting and transferring of persons served and be able to provide personal care including hygiene and toileting.

The successful candidate must be able to work with people who display challenging behaviour and work as part of a team within a high stress environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Emergency First Aid & CPR
  • FOODSAFE Level 1
  • Restricted Class 4 driver’s license
  • Practical experience working with developmental and physical disabilities
  • Post-secondary education in related field preferred
