Our client is seeking an experienced Intermediate Java Developer to join their team on a fixed-term contract, working on business-critical software solutions within the telecommunications environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant software development experience.
  • Grade 12.
  • IT Degree, Diploma or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Java 8 and J2EE.
  • Experience with J2EE containers and web servers, preferably Payara or GlassFish.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, Apache Camel and Maven.
  • Experience developing REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Working knowledge of Linux.
  • Strong SQL and database experience.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Advantageous Experience:

  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ
  • JUnit
  • Oracle PL/SQL and Apex

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance software solutions using Java/J2EE and relevant frameworks.
  • Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, data models and structures.
  • Design and develop REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Work with technologies including Spring Boot, Apache Camel and Maven.
  • Develop and optimise SQL queries across databases including Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MSSQL.
  • Deploy, install and configure software releases.
  • Use Git for source control and collaborative development.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide technical support and maintain solutions post-implementation.
  • Develop integration test specifications and conduct system and integration testing.
  • Support UAT and customer testing activities.
  • Use tools such as Postman for API testing.
  • Utilise Linux and Bash for scripting, system administration and server-related activities.
  • Participate in quality reviews, documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively within Agile/Scrum development environments.
