Summary

An intern on Din Tai Fung Malaysia's in-house IT team provides first-level IT support to HQ, central kitchen and ~20 restaurant outlets: setting up laptops, POS terminals and printers, assisting with Wi-Fi/switch/4G networking, maintaining IT asset inventory and user accounts, and checking backups, antivirus and CCTV.

About the role

Din Tai Fung Malaysia operates around 20 restaurants nationwide, supported by our HQ and central kitchen. Our IT team keeps every outlet connected, selling and secure, every day. You will work directly with our IT Manager on networking, devices, systems and outlet support — not just observing, but doing.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide first-level IT support to HQ, central kitchen and outlet staff (on-site, phone and remote).

  • Set up, configure and troubleshoot laptops, desktops, printers, POS terminals, tablets and peripherals.

  • Assist with network tasks: cabling, Wi-Fi access points, switches, routers and 4G backup connectivity at outlets.

  • Maintain the IT asset inventory (hardware, licenses, serial numbers, locations) and keep it up to date.

  • Help with user account administration in our NAS platforms (create, update, disable accounts).

  • Assist with routine checks: backups, antivirus/endpoint status, patch updates and CCTV recording health.

  • Write and update IT SOPs, user guides and checklists in simple English/Chinese for non-technical staff.

  • Support small automation and reporting tasks (e.g. spreadsheets, workflow tools, simple scripts).

  • Other IT-related tasks as assigned by the IT Manager.

About you

  • Currently pursuing a Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering or a related field.

  • Available for a full-time internship of at least 3 months.

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, Windows OS and networking concepts (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi).

  • Comfortable with Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.

  • Good communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an advantage for communicating with some staff and vendors.

  • Willing to travel to outlets within the Klang Valley (own transport preferred; travel claims provided).

  • Responsible, trustworthy and careful when handling company systems and data.
