IT Support Officer – Tony White Group Tasmania
Salary: Competitive salary + company car (inc private use)
Permanent Full-Time | Competitive Salary | Company Vehicle + Private Use | Statewide Role
JOIN TONY WHITE GROUP TASMANIA
Tony White Group Tasmania is seeking an experienced and capable IT Support Officer to join our Group IT team, supporting a diverse network of automotive dealerships and employees across Tasmania.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working directly with people. You’ll gain broad exposure across hardware, software, Microsoft 365, networking and cloud-based systems, while contributing to ongoing IT improvement and transformation projects across a large and growing automotive group.
We offer a competitive salary package together with a company vehicle, including private use, recognising the statewide nature of the position and the regular travel required between our major Tasmanian locations.
The position is being advertised in Launceston, where our primary Tasmanian IT support function is based. However, for the right candidate with the appropriate experience, technical capability and ability to work autonomously, we are open to considering a Hobart or North-West Tasmania base.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are offering a permanent full-time position within a collaborative and high-performing statewide IT team of four, reporting directly to the IT Manager.
Supporting more than 500 users, you’ll work across a diverse and continually evolving IT environment, providing both local and remote support while assisting with the deployment, maintenance and improvement of technology across our dealership network.
The role also provides exposure to significant transformation projects as we continue to upgrade and consolidate IT systems and processes across the Group.
We’re looking for someone with solid hands-on IT support experience who is proactive, approachable and solutions-focused – someone who can troubleshoot effectively, manage competing priorities and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
Following an appropriate induction and in-house training period, you will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy while remaining closely connected to and supported by the broader Group IT team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing local and remote IT support for computers, laptops, printers, tablets, mobile devices, VoIP telephone hardware and associated software applications.
Configuring and deploying computers, laptops, printers, tablets, mobiles and other devices.
User administration across Microsoft 365 and relevant SaaS platforms.
Troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity and user-access issues.
Providing responsive, practical IT support to users across our Tasmanian dealership network.
Contributing to IT projects, system upgrades and broader technology improvement initiatives.
Working collaboratively with the Group IT team while taking ownership of day-to-day support requirements.
Regularly travelling between our three major Tasmanian operating regions – Launceston, Hobart and the North-West Coast – to provide on-site support as required.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience in an IT Helpdesk, Service Desk or IT Support role.
A genuine passion for technology and a strong desire to continue learning and developing.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive, service-oriented approach to supporting users.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a broader team.
The maturity, initiative and technical capability to work autonomously when required.
The flexibility and willingness to undertake regular statewide travel.
A current driver’s licence.
You will ideally also have practical experience or familiarity with:
Configuring and troubleshooting desktops, laptops and printers.
Networking fundamentals and connectivity between computers, printers and other devices.
Cabled and wireless LAN environments, including setup and troubleshooting.
Microsoft Windows environments, system settings and end-user support.
Microsoft 365 applications and administration, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) tools.
LOCATION & STATEWIDE TRAVEL
Our preference is for the successful applicant to be based in Launceston, where our primary Tasmanian IT support office is located.
However, we recognise that the right person may be located elsewhere in Tasmania. Hobart or North-West Tasmania will also be considered for an applicant who demonstrates the required experience, technical capability and ability to work autonomously following an initial induction and in-house training period.
Regardless of the successful applicant’s primary location, this is a statewide support role and regular travel between Launceston, Hobart and the North-West Coast will be an inherent part of the position.
To support this requirement, the successful applicant will be provided with a company vehicle, including private use.
WHAT WE OFFER
A competitive salary, commensurate with experience and capability.
Fully maintained company vehicle including fuel card and private use.
Permanent, full-time employment with a large and established national automotive group.
Broad exposure to technologies, systems and projects across a substantial multi-site environment.
Ongoing learning and development through exposure to our broader Group IT function.
A varied role combining remote support, on-site problem-solving and project work.
The opportunity to work autonomously while remaining part of a collaborative and experienced IT team.
