Summary

Junior IT support role at a Queensland transport company. Day to day: help staff resolve IT issues across offices, warehouse and transport ops — troubleshooting Windows PCs, Microsoft 365, printers, connectivity, mobile devices and handheld scanners — plus onboarding setup, helpdesk management and account admin alongside a Systems Administrator and IT Manager.

Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 per year

Build your IT career through practical experience

If you have a solid grounding in technology, enjoy helping people and are ready to take responsibility for your work, this position offers an opportunity to develop your skills in an experienced IT team.

Blacks Transport is seeking a Junior IT Support & Operations Officer to support our employees and help manage the technology used across our offices, warehouse and transport operations.

You may already be working in a junior IT role, have recently completed relevant study, or have developed practical technical skills through your own projects. We’re interested in your ability, your approach to customer service and your willingness to learn.

What you’ll work on

Alongside our Systems Administrator and IT Manager, you’ll:

• Help employees resolve everyday IT problems by phone, email and face-to-face.

• Troubleshoot Windows computers, Microsoft 365, printers and connectivity.

• Prepare and support mobile devices, tablets and handheld scanners.

• Set up computers and equipment for new employees.

• Perform routine account administration within approved procedures.

• Manage helpdesk requests and maintain communication until issues are resolved.

• Keep equipment records and device allocations accurate.

• Help maintain spare equipment, organise repairs and improve support documentation.

• Contribute to maintenance, deployments and IT projects as your skills develop.

The variety extends beyond the office. You’ll see how technology is used throughout the business and learn why a scanner issue can sometimes need attention before a desktop request.

The qualities we value

Technical knowledge matters, but effective support also depends on how you work with people.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has strong customer service skills and communicates clearly with people of all technical abilities.

  • Enjoys problem-solving and takes a logical, practical approach to troubleshooting.

  • Takes ownership of tasks, follows through and pays attention to detail.

  • Is reliable, organised and able to manage competing priorities.

  • Shows initiative, knows when to ask for help and is eager to learn.

  • Enjoys hands-on technical work and is comfortable following established procedures.

Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory or Entra ID, Intune, Android devices, printers, networking or helpdesk systems would be helpful. You don’t need to arrive knowing every platform.

Customer service experience from another industry is also valuable, particularly where you’ve helped people resolve problems under pressure.

Support for your development

You’ll receive practical guidance from experienced IT colleagues and progressively take ownership of routine support and device management.

As your capability develops, there will be opportunities to broaden your technical knowledge and contribute to operational improvements and projects. Additional responsibilities will reflect your progress and the needs of the business.
