What’s in it?
As a Lead 2D Artist, you will help define
and execute the visual quality of a Mobile game under the Art Director’s
vision. You will create polished, production-ready 2D artwork across gameplay,
UI, cards, backgrounds, icons, illustrations, and events. The role requires a
strong understanding of casual mobile games, visual hierarchy, readability,
colour, composition, and player appeal. You will work closely with the Art
Director, Game Designers, UI/UX, and other artists to turn creative direction
into high-quality assets that are consistent, efficient to produce, and
suitable for a live mobile game.
Responsibilities
• Create high-quality 2D artwork for the
game, including card-related assets, UI elements, icons, illustrations,
backgrounds, events, rewards, and promotional content.
• Translate the Art Director’s vision
into polished, production-ready artwork while maintaining a consistent visual
language across the game.
• Develop and refine visual concepts
through thumbnails, sketches, colour explorations, paintovers, and final
artwork.
• Create artwork that is clear,
appealing, and readable on mobile screens, with strong attention to visual
hierarchy and player usability.
• Work closely with UI/UX and Game
Design to ensure artwork supports gameplay, functionality, and an intuitive
player experience.
• Create and maintain visual consistency
across menus, game screens, cards, buttons, icons, pop-ups, rewards, events,
and other live-service content.
• Produce key art, promotional
illustrations, event artwork, social media assets, and other marketing visuals
when required.
• Prepare production-ready assets with
appropriate dimensions, layers, naming, and technical requirements for Unity
implementation.
• Provide paintovers, feedback, and
visual guidance to other artists, helping maintain quality and consistency
across the team.
• Build and curate references, mood
boards, visual guides, and art documentation to support the team and establish
clear visual standards.
• Collaborate with the Art Director and
cross-functional teams through reviews, incorporate feedback effectively, and
help drive assets from exploration to final delivery.
• Mentor junior artists where required
and contribute to improving the team’s overall 2D art quality and production
processes.
Requirements
• 8-10+ years of professional experience
as a 2D Artist, Concept Artist, Illustrator, or similar role in game
development, with experience on at least 3 shipped titles.
• Strong experience creating 2D artwork
for mobile games, preferably casual, social, card, or live-service games.
• Excellent fundamentals in drawing,
composition, colour, lighting, perspective, shape language, and visual
storytelling.
• Strong understanding of visual
hierarchy, readability, and appeal on mobile screens and at different
UI/gameplay scales.
• Proven ability to work within an
established art direction and consistently deliver polished artwork that
matches the defined visual style.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating
production-ready game art across areas such as UI, icons, illustrations,
environments, characters, props, cards, or marketing art.
• Expert-level proficiency in Photoshop.
• Strong understanding of preparing and
optimizing 2D assets for game engines, particularly Unity.
• Ability to take ownership of an asset
from initial idea and exploration through final production and implementation.
• Experience reviewing artwork and
providing clear, constructive creative and technical feedback to other artists.
• Excellent communication,
collaboration, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive, self-motivated,
detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced live-service
environment.

• Experience working on card games,
casual games, social games, or live-service mobile titles.
• Experience creating UI art, game
icons, cards, badges, rewards, event artwork, and other mobile game content.
• Experience with Unity and
understanding of how 2D assets are implemented in a game.
• Experience creating marketing key art,
promotional illustrations, social media assets, and store creatives.
• Experience with AI-assisted ideation
used responsibly to accelerate exploration while maintaining strong artistic
ownership and quality.
