Lead Full Stack Developer

Summary

Lead Full Stack Developer for a game studio, designing scalable backend systems (Node.js) and Unity-based client games, focusing on matchmaking, real-time multiplayer, and cloud infrastructure to support millions of players.

This is a remote position.

Your Mission

You’ll be at the intersection of gameplay and backend services — designing seamless systems that scale with millions of players. From matchmaking logic and real-time gameplay to cloud saves and event-driven backends, you’ll help define the tech direction and lead the engineering execution across the stack.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and develop core game features in Unity (C#) and backend systems in Node.js

  • Design APIs and client-server protocols that are robust, efficient, and secure

  • Build scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure for multiplayer features, leaderboards, user accounts, and more

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of Unity and backend developers

  • Collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and product leads to bring new features to life

  • Implement tools and pipelines for live ops, analytics, A/B testing, and player personalization

  • Ensure code quality, reliability, and performance across both frontend and backend

  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines, server deployments, and cloud architecture (e.g., AWS, GCP, Firebase)

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional experience with Unity (C#) and Node.js

  • Shipped at least 2 games with live backend services, ideally at scale

  • Strong knowledge of game client-server architecture, multiplayer synchronization, and network optimization

  • Experience with database design and management (MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, etc.)

  • Deep understanding of authentication, data security, and performance tuning

  • Solid DevOps fundamentals — Docker, CI/CD, monitoring tools, cloud scaling

  • A proven track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Firebase, PlayFab, or other BaaS tools

  • Familiarity with WebSockets, REST, and GraphQL APIs

  • Previous work on real-time multiplayer or PvP game systems

  • Knowledge of TypeScript, Next.js, or React for admin tools or dashboards

Benefits

Why Join Us

  • Build high-impact features used by millions of players

  • Work on a tight-knit team with high ownership and autonomy

  • Flat structure, zero bureaucracy, maximum creative influence

  • Competitive compensation, equity options, and performance-based bonuses

  • Remote flexibility, generous vacation, and strong personal development support

  • Be part of a studio where tech is valued just as much as creativity
