Lead Product Manager - Banking Payments

You will define and execute the product vision for global banking payments across India, the United Kingdom, and Europe. You will lead technical delivery from transaction-lifecycle mapping and specifications through API and event-driven architecture design. You will own discovery and solution design for controls, clearing, settlement, ledgers, safeguarding, and reconciliation. You will work with banking and fintech ecosystem partners to identify payment opportunities, ensure features meet regulatory and risk requirements, optimize payment revenue, and use KPIs and OKRs to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, drive, and execute the end-to-end product vision for banking payments.
  • Lead cross-functional agile teams through the product development lifecycle.
  • Map transaction lifecycles and write technical specifications.
  • Manage database isolation levels, event-driven architecture, and API design.
  • Lead discovery and solution design for money-movement controls, clearing, settlement, financial ledgers, and safeguarding and reconciliation mechanics.
  • Engage with banking and fintech ecosystem stakeholders to identify payment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate fraud and transaction risks.
  • Optimize payment revenue drivers and collaborate with Finance on quarterly forecasting.
  • Define and track product KPIs and OKRs to drive continuous optimization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Product Management experience focused on core banking systems, payment rails, clearing and settlement infrastructure, or electronic money institutions.
  • Strong technical understanding of SEPA, Faster Payments, UPI, SWIFT, and Open Banking and PSD2 frameworks.
  • Knowledge of API design, transaction logging, race conditions, and edge cases in high-throughput core systems.
  • Understanding of funds flow, ledger management, double-entry bookkeeping, and automated safeguarding and reconciliation processes.
  • Knowledge of FCA, PRA, EBA, AML, KYB, and transaction-reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of small-business financial needs including cash-flow management, payment acceptance, foreign exchange, and account reconciliation.
  • Experience mentoring junior product managers, managing third-party banking providers and vendors, and aligning executive stakeholders.
