About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance operations of the feedlot, ensuring equipment, infrastructure and facilities are maintained to a high standard. You'll play a key role in supporting feedlot operations through machinery maintenance, fabrication and welding, general repairs, and preventative maintenance activities, while helping to maintain safe, efficient and animal welfare-focused operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Maintenance Manager with the daily operation of the maintenance function across the feedlot.
- Operate and maintain a range of machinery and equipment
- Conduct mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on feedlot, feedmill, farming equipment and vehicles.
- Perform structural fabrication, welding and assembly work to a high standard.
- Scrape and maintain pen surfaces to ensure animal welfare requirements are met.
- Maintain workshop facilities, tools and equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
- Assist with general maintenance of buildings, infrastructure and station facilities.
- Support livestock operations when required, including animal processing and health-related activities.
About You
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Experience in mechanical maintenance and repairs, preferably within agriculture, feedlot, livestock or heavy industry environments.
- Strong welding and fabrication skills, including MIG and oxy welding.
- Experience operating loaders, tractors, tipper trucks or similar machinery.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, mobile plant and agricultural equipment.
- The ability to read drawings and follow technical instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- A proactive approach to safety, maintenance and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
