Maintenance Technician (M&E)
Summary
Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on industrial equipment like pumps, chillers, and control systems to minimize downtime and ensure safety in a chemical manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Execute troubleshooting, corrective and preventive maintenance work for related equipment in a timely, cost effective and safe manner and to minimize production down time. E.g.
- Pumps, Agitators, valves, stirrers
- Chillers, Cooling Towers, Air Compressors
- Electrical, earthing, motor, motor control centres, variable frequency drive
- Identify and prioritize work according to the equipment criticality and availability
- Support engineer(s) to setup maintenance plan (preventive and predictive) and vendor service agreement
- Identify, estimate and plan the resources (manpower, material and time) required for forthcoming / planned maintenance tasks
- Work with engineer to carry out improvement and monitor performance of equipment for optimization of equipment functionality
- Liaise and coordinate with vendors/contractors for equipment maintenance and repairs
- Support and attend to daily ad hoc request with regards to maintenance and improvement works
- Keep track of equipment spares and work with maintenance planner to replenish the spares upon depletion
- Support to develop Preventive Maintenance SOP/Procedures and tasks to maintain plant assets.
- Attend to off-office hour call back by user to repair equipment breakdown
- Plan, organize and supervise work performed by in-house contractor and external contractor engaged for maintenance work.
- Learn safety policies and guide external contractors on site requirements
- As authorized permit to work applicant
- Good record keeping in all involved tasks relevant data in SAP
- Adherence and support EHS initiatives and compliance
- Maintain and support all site activities according to accreditation standards in the scope of the QMS ISO 9001 & Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
Academic Background
- NITEC/ITC/Diploma in Mechanical and/or Electrical background
Professional experience
- 3 to 6 years of experience in maintenance work
- Preferably with experience in FMCG, chemicals or petrochemicals industry
Technical Skills
- Familiar with basic SAP Plant Maintenance function (module)
- With some experience with the Programme Logic Control (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system
- Good knowledge of EHS rules and guidelines.
- Good coordination skills with contractors/vendors
- Able to interpret P&ID, mechanical drawings and electrical single line diagram
- Able to organized and have good interpersonal skills
- Well verse in Microsoft office (e.g. Words and Excel)
