An international data center developer and operator is looking for a Mechanical Design Manager to lead the design of next-generation critical facilities. This is a strategic role responsible for overseeing mechanical engineering design, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and operational performance across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of multiple large-scale infrastructure projects from concept through construction.
  • Ensure designs meet reliability, availability, sustainability, safety, and performance objectives.
  • Develop technical specifications, tender documentation, and construction drawings.
  • Participate in technical discussions with customers, consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Review design submissions, equipment specifications, shop drawings, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and assess design changes, risks, and alternative solutions.
  • Support construction, commissioning, testing, and operational handover activities.
  • Drive standardisation, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and maintainable design solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and resolve complex engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design for large-scale, complex facilities or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Proven experience leading engineering design activities and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, cooling systems, fire protection, and mechanical infrastructure design.
  • Experience performing engineering calculations, simulations, and technical studies such as airflow modelling, thermal analysis, hydraulic calculations, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Knowledge of advanced cooling technologies and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Familiarity with plant operation strategies, control systems, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience evaluating equipment, preparing technical specifications, and supporting procurement activities.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and other relevant engineering design tools.
