Network Engineer – IP Infrastructure in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia supports city‑wide digital connectivity across major programs, focusing on IP/MPLS networks, routing, switching, network security, high‑availability infrastructure, smart city systems, data center connectivity, and resilient telecom network delivery. This full‑time role requires at least five years of experience in IP network design, implementation, commissioning, and operations. Candidates must be Saudi nationals. Salary is estimated between 18,000–25,000 SAR per month, and the position is available within the telecommunications industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of city‑wide IP network architecture covering backbone, metro, core, aggregation, and access network layers.
- Review IP/MPLS and SRv6 network designs to verify scalability, reliability, latency performance, security alignment, and compliance with project requirements.
- Provide technical input during design reviews for routing, switching, high availability, network segmentation, redundancy, and operational resilience.
- Configure, review, and support routing protocols and policies including OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, QoS, multicast, traffic engineering, and failover mechanisms.
- Assist with the integration of IP network platforms with DWDM, ROADM, GPON, XGS-PON, wireless backhaul, fiber networks, and data center connectivity.
- Review District CMP and DMP submissions to confirm constructability, compliance, technical suitability, and alignment with approved network standards.
- Monitor network performance, investigate incidents, troubleshoot technical issues, and support root‑cause analysis for complex network faults.
- Support network change management, configuration updates, software patching, upgrades, planned maintenance, and controlled deployment activities.
- Coordinate with design, telecom, cybersecurity, DCIM, data center, infrastructure, construction, and operations teams to align network requirements.
- Support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, integrated systems testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities for IP network systems.
- Provide engineering clarifications during construction, implementation, vendor deployment, system integration, and network handover stages.
- Ensure network solutions comply with relevant technical and security standards including IEC, IEEE, IETF RFCs, ISO 27001, NIST, and project security frameworks.
- Validate segmentation models, redundancy designs, N 1 and 2N architectures, failover performance, and high‑availability requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware delivery, software readiness, technical documentation, configuration validation, and issue resolution.
- Liaise with Mobile Network Operators, Internet Service Providers, upstream providers, and technology partners for interconnection, peering, and service coordination.
- Define and support network monitoring requirements including SNMP, NetFlow, telemetry feeds, dashboards, alerts, and NOC/SOC integration.
- Prepare and maintain network documentation such as configuration records, topology diagrams, as‑built information, operating procedures, and technical manuals.
- Support knowledge transfer to Operations and Maintenance teams, including troubleshooting methods, escalation paths, monitoring tools, and network procedures.
- Work with planning, design, construction, operations, and cybersecurity stakeholders to keep network delivery coordinated and technically controlled.
- Mentor junior engineers and encourage best practices in IP networking, proactive monitoring, technical documentation, and resilient network design.
- Support continuous improvement actions that improve network availability, performance, automation readiness, and operational efficiency.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in ICT, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum five years of experience in IP network design, implementation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or operations.
- Saudi national with strong interest in large‑scale telecom, smart city, critical infrastructure, and digital connectivity programs.
- Experience supporting telecom, data center, ISP, campus, metro, smart city, or critical infrastructure network environments.
- Strong working knowledge of IP/MPLS, SRv6, routing and switching, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, QoS, multicast, and high‑availability network architecture.
- Good understanding of network segmentation, access control, security hardening, redundancy, failover, N 1 models, and 2N network designs.
- Experience reviewing network architecture documents, technical submissions, design packages, vendor proposals, configuration files, and implementation plans.
- Practical exposure to testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, operational readiness, change control, patching, and configuration management.
- Knowledge of transport and access technologies such as DWDM, ROADM, GPON, XGS-PON, wireless backhaul, fiber infrastructure, and data center interconnection.
- Understanding of enterprise and critical infrastructure cybersecurity requirements, NOC/SOC monitoring, incident response, and operational controls.
- Ability to perform root‑cause analysis, assess network risks, recommend technical improvements, and support reliable issue resolution.
- Strong documentation, reporting, communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable working with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, operators, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Cisco CCIE, Juniper JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, or equivalent networking certifications are preferred.
- Exposure to software‑defined networking, cloud networking, hybrid infrastructure, network automation, analytics platforms, or intent‑based networking is an advantage.
