Summary

Administers and optimizes Oracle databases, ensuring high availability and performance, with RAC, backup/recovery, and security compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, administer, and optimise Oracle database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Implement, configure, and support Oracle RAC environments.
  • Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Develop and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and perform performance tuning.
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting and automation tools.
  • Collaborate with application and development teams to support efficient database design and deployment.
  • Implement database security controls, conduct security audits, and ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 5 or more years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing Oracle RAC environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle backup, recovery, performance tuning, and high availability solutions.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl for automation.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
  • Knowledge of database security and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS or HIPAA.
  • Experience supporting additional database platforms such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
