Outside Sales Representative - IDGS

The Outside Sales Representative – Industrial Doors and Gates Sensors (IDGS) is responsible for driving revenue growth within the pedestrian segment across an assigned territory or set of accounts, with a focus on automatic doors, safety sensors, and activation solutions. Reporting to the IDGS Segment Manager, this role supports execution of segment strategy by developing strong customer relationships, expanding product specification, and increasing adoption within the existing market.

The position includes responsibility for managing and growing a defined portfolio of customers while maintaining a healthy pipeline of new opportunities. The Outside Sales Representative is accountable for achieving revenue targets and strengthening BEA’s position within the pedestrian market. The role requires regular travel (approximately 50–65%) to support customer engagement, training, and industry events. Close collaboration with internal teams ensures alignment on customer needs, product positioning, and consistent execution of go-to-market strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Segment Strategy Support

  • Align sales activities with IDGS segment strategy by understanding customer needs, specification drivers, and product positioning to support targeted growth
  • Monitor market activity, including customer trends and competitive positioning, to identify opportunities and strengthen market presence

Customer Relationship & Sales Execution

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, distributors, integrators, and key end users, acting as a trusted advisor
  • Manage and grow existing accounts while identifying new opportunities to expand specification and product adoption
  • Own and manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, qualification, solution presentation, negotiation, and closing

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide customer and market feedback to Segment Management, Product, and Marketing teams to influence product direction and go-to-market strategy
  • Support product lifecycle activities, including new product launches, updates, and transitions to ensure alignment with customer needs

Travel & Customer Engagement

  • Travel approximately 50–65% to support customer engagement, relationship development, and business growth
  • Conduct regular in-person customer meetings, training sessions, and business reviews to strengthen partnerships and drive product adoption
  • Represent BEA at trade shows and industry events to build brand awareness and expand relationships within the pedestrian market

Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, including pipeline management, forecasting, and activity tracking
  • Document customer interactions, including key insights and follow-up actions, to support planning and visibility
  • Manage travel and expense reporting in alignment with company policies

Professional Development

  • Maintain strong product and application knowledge through ongoing training and technical development
  • Strengthen consultative and specification selling skills to support long-term customer growth and retention

Requirements

Degree(s) or certification(s): Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field required

Professional experience required (min.):

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in B2B sales, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
  • Experience managing both existing accounts and developing new business opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment

Technical Competencies

  • Ability to analyze sales performance and market trends using Excel, BI tools, or analytics dashboards
  • Ability to understand technical product specifications and translate complex concepts into clear, customer-facing solutions

IT skills

  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams); experience with virtual collaboration tools (Zoom)
