About the role

The PHP Developer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing web-based applications and backend systems for the company's Point-of-Sale (POS) software. Key responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance POS applications using PHP and related web technologies.

  • Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs and backend services.

  • Create and optimize database structures, queries, stored procedures, and transactions using MySQL or SQL Database.

  • Implement POS features such as sales processing, product management, inventory tracking, discounts, payment integration, and sales reporting.

  • Integrate POS software with third-party systems, payment gateways, e-commerce platforms, accounting software, and other business applications.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues and system performance problems.

  • Ensure data accuracy, transaction integrity, security, and system reliability.

  • Perform code reviews, testing, documentation, and version control.

  • Familiarity with the Laravel framework (routing, Eloquent ORM, migrations, authentication, queues).

  • Hands-on knowledge of Docker containerization and deployment: building images, writing Dockerfiles and Docker Compose files, and running containers across environments.

  • Strong knowledge of MySQL or SQLite, including database design, joins, indexing, and query optimization.

  • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and web services.

  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems (command line, file permissions, services, basic troubleshooting) is an advantage.

  • Cloud infrastructure implementation experience (for example AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or DigitalOcean), including server setup and management is a plus.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Nginx or Apache, and basic server monitoring is a plus.

  • Experience with a modern frontend framework or library (for example Vue.js, React, or Livewire/Inertia) is an advantage.

  • knowledge on RabbitMQ is a plus.

  • Experience developing or maintaining POS, retail/food management, inventory, or sales systems is an advantage.

  • Understanding of sales transactions, cash management, discounts, refunds, voids, and end-of day reports.

  • Knowledge of inventory movement, stock adjustments, product variants, and barcode scanning workflows.

  • Understanding of payment gateway integration and transaction reconciliation.

  • Knowledge of offline transaction handling, synchronization, and recovery from network interruptions is a plus.

  • Motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new technologies and business processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to investigate technical issues and provide effective solutions.

  • Attention to detail, particularly in financial calculations and transaction processing.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure reliable processing of financial transactions.

  • Interest in application deployment and server management.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.

  • Strong sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and accountability.
