Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer with 5–6 years of hands-on experience in developing interactive dashboards, business intelligence reports, and automated reporting solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Power BI, SQL, data modeling, DAX, and report automation, with the ability to transform complex data into actionable business insights.

The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technical teams to understand reporting requirements, optimize data solutions, automate repetitive processes, and deliver reliable, scalable BI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, joins, subqueries, CTEs, and window functions to extract, transform, and validate data.
• Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, KPIs, and time-intelligence calculations.
• Build and optimize data models, relationships, hierarchies, and calculated tables for efficient reporting.
• Integrate data from SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, and other relevant data sources.
• Implement data transformation and cleansing processes using Power Query (M language).
• Automate report generation, data refreshes, and recurring reporting activities using Power BI Service, Power Automate, PowerShell, Python, or other suitable tools.
• Develop automated data validation, reconciliation, and exception-reporting processes to improve data accuracy.
• Configure scheduled refreshes, gateways, workspaces, apps, and role-level security (RLS).
• Optimize dashboard performance, DAX expressions, SQL queries, and data models.
• Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot data discrepancies, refresh failures, performance issues, and report-related incidents.
• Maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, reporting specifications, and automation workflows.
• Follow BI development best practices, governance standards, and version-control procedures.

Required Technical Skills

1. Power BI

• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Expertise in DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and interactive visualizations.
• Experience with drill-through, bookmarks, tooltips, slicers, and dynamic reporting.
• Knowledge of workspace management, deployment, scheduled refresh, and Row-Level Security.
• Experience optimizing report performance and handling large datasets.

2. SQL

• Strong proficiency in SQL Server or other relational databases.
• Experience writing complex queries using joins, CTEs, subqueries, views, stored procedures, and window functions.
• Understanding of query optimization, indexing, and execution plans.
• Ability to perform data profiling, cleansing, reconciliation, and validation.
• Experience working with large datasets and multiple data sources.

3. Automation

• Experience automating recurring reports, data refreshes, and data-processing workflows.
• Hands-on experience with Power Automate, Power BI REST APIs, PowerShell, Python, or equivalent automation tools.
• Ability to automate report distribution, notifications, data quality checks, and exception handling.
• Experience scheduling and monitoring ETL or reporting workflows.
• Understanding of error handling, logging, and failure recovery in automated processes.

4. Data Integration and ETL

• Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and data warehousing.
• Experience integrating data from multiple structured data sources.
• Understanding of star schema, snowflake schema, fact tables, and dimension tables.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Microsoft Power BI certification, such as PL-300, is an advantage.
• Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, or cloud-based BI solutions.
• Experience with Git, version control, deployment pipelines, and development lifecycle practices.
• Knowledge of Python scripting for data processing and automation is an added advantage.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Experience Requirements

• 5–6 years of overall experience in Business Intelligence, data analytics, or BI development.
• Strong hands-on experience in Power BI dashboard development and SQL-based data analysis.
• Demonstrated experience delivering automated reporting solutions that reduce manual effort.
• Experience interacting with business stakeholders and translating requirements into scalable BI solutions.
