Pre-Sales Solution Architect (Data Center Infrastructure)

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Pre-Sales Solution Architect at YTL Data Center, you will act as the primary technical consultant in the sales process for our regional colocation services. You will bridge the gap between our commercial objectives and technical delivery, serving as a trusted advisor to enterprise and hyperscale clients.

This role requires a deep understanding of data center mechanical and electrical (M&E) infrastructure, specifically tailored for high-performance computing (HPC) and AI deployments. You will collaborate closely with regional delivery and engineering teams to design bespoke space, power, and cooling architectures that meet complex customer requirements across the different markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Discovery & Scoping: Lead technical engagements with prospective colocation clients to understand their IT deployment roadmaps, power density requirements, and cooling needs.
• Bespoke Solution Design: Architect tailored colocation solutions, focusing on optimised white space layouts, power distribution down to the rack level, and advanced cooling strategies.
• AI & High-Density Optimisation: Provide expert guidance to clients on deploying high-density hardware, specifically integrating liquid cooling solutions (such as Direct-to-Chip cooling).
• Technical Proposal & RFP Management: Own the technical narrative for complex RFPs, RFIs, and RFQ submissions. Ensure all technical compliance, efficiency metrics (PUE/WUE), and value propositions are clearly articulated.
• Commercial Alignment: Work alongside Sales and Marketing team to structure commercial proposals, ensuring technical solutions are financially viable, constructible, and aligned with capacity phasing plans.
• Cross-Border Collaboration: Act as the technical liaison between the Singapore commercial teams and Malaysia project delivery teams, ensuring seamless transition from pre-sales design to post-sales execution.
• Site Tours & Evangelism: Lead highly technical site tours of YTL facilities for client engineering teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in Design, Solutions or Technical Consulting specifically 2 years within the Data Center colocation, hyperscale infrastructure, or telecommunications industry.
• Domain Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of data center M&E infrastructure (UPS topologies, backup generation, chilled water systems, liquid cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC units).
• Regional Market Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the data center landscape, regulatory environments, and connectivity ecosystems in South East Asia.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex facility engineering concepts into compelling business value for both technical IT directors and commercial executives.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Professional engineering accreditation is a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry certifications such as Uptime Institute (ATD), CDCP, or equivalent.
• Previous experience supporting large-scale hyperscale or wholesale colocation deals (10MW+).
• Familiarity with green data center initiatives and sustainability reporting metrics.
