Summary
Senior FPGA engineer designing ultra-low-latency hardware accelerators for an exchange’s trading platform, setting standards and mentoring teams.
You will serve as the senior technical authority for FPGA and hardware accelerated trading platform technologies. You will design and deploy FPGA solutions, define architectures and engineering standards, optimise latency sensitive processing, lead technical reviews, advise stakeholders, influence technology roadmaps, mentor engineers, and support resilient production operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop FPGA based solutions for trading platform services
- Define architectures for hardware accelerated processing and market data handling
- Lead design reviews and technical governance
- Establish reusable design patterns frameworks and engineering standards
- Analyse latency sensitive workflows and identify acceleration opportunities
- Evaluate protocol processing market data distribution and connectivity architectures
- Optimise deterministic processing paths across hardware and software
- Conduct performance benchmarking and capacity analysis
- Advise product architecture operations and engineering stakeholders
- Influence technology roadmaps and strategic investment decisions
- Assess emerging technologies relevant to exchange technology
- Define engineering standards design principles and quality expectations
- Guide teams in applying engineering discipline to low latency systems
- Support production readiness resilience and operational supportability
- Partner with software engineering network infrastructure and operations teams
- Collaborate with vendors and external partners
- Mentor engineers and transfer specialist knowledge
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or a related discipline
- 10+ years of engineering experience in FPGA development or low latency platform engineering
- Extensive experience designing and deploying FPGA solutions in production environments
- Experience leading complex technical initiatives and influencing architecture decisions
- Strong understanding of high performance computing and distributed systems
- Expertise in FPGA design and implementation
- Expertise in VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog
- Expertise in high speed networking technologies
- Expertise in low latency market infrastructure
- Expertise in protocol processing and acceleration
- Expertise in real time and deterministic systems
- Expertise in performance engineering and benchmarking
- Expertise in Linux environments and systems programming
- Expertise in hardware and software co design
- Experience in exchange, trading, market data or financial services environments is nice to have
- Experience with market connectivity technologies is nice to have
- Experience with exchange matching engines or market infrastructure is nice to have
