About the role

We are looking for a Principal Technical Architect to provide technical leadership for a strategic digital platform within a global enterprise environment.

In this role, you will own the platform’s technical strategy, architecture, and engineering direction, ensuring it evolves into a modern, secure, scalable, reusable, and reliable foundation aligned with enterprise standards and business priorities.

You will work at the intersection of platform strategy, architecture, modern engineering, AI-enabled delivery, and technical governance, partnering with senior business and technology leaders, product owners, enterprise architects, and engineering teams.

We’re looking for a highly experienced technical leader who can create clarity from complexity, make sound architectural and investment decisions, develop technical talent, and drive engineering excellence at global scale. Strong systems thinking, curiosity, precise communication, and end-to-end ownership are essential to the role.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the Platform’s technical strategy, roadmap, and target-state architecture, connecting business priorities with enterprise architecture standards.
• Serve as the architecture and design authority, establishing technical standards, design principles, integration patterns, and key architectural decisions.
• Lead and develop engineering teams, including engineers, architects, and technical leads, fostering technical excellence, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Partner with senior business and Digital leaders, product owners, and enterprise architects to translate ambiguous requirements into practical technical solutions, delivery models, and measurable outcomes.
• Define how AI, automation, and modern engineering practices can be responsibly applied to improve delivery speed, quality, decision-making, and platform reuse.
• Establish and uphold standards for security, reliability, scalability, observability, documentation, and operational excellence.
• Guide architecture and engineering decisions across cloud platforms, data, integrations, APIs, security, and modern application architectures.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve platform capabilities, reuse, speed, and quality.
• Anticipate failure modes and guide teams toward resilient, scalable, and sustainable systems.
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly and influence decisions across technical and business teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, technology, architecture, or technical leadership roles.
• Significant experience owning the technical strategy and architecture of an enterprise-scale platform, product, or technology domain.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams of engineers, architects, and technical leads.
• Deep, hands-on technical expertise across modern engineering practices, cloud platforms, data, integrations, APIs, security, and reliability.
• Strong technical strategy and judgment, with the ability to connect business needs, enterprise architecture, and platform strategy into practical technical direction and investment decisions.
• Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate failure modes and design for resilience and scalability.
• Proven ability to influence senior business and technology leaders, build alignment, and drive decisions across organizational boundaries without relying solely on formal authority.
• Excellent executive and technical communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts and trade-offs for audiences ranging from senior executives to engineers.
• Experience applying AI, automation, modern engineering practices, and platform reuse to improve speed, quality, and business value while maintaining appropriate controls and verification.
• Demonstrated ability to develop technical talent and foster a culture of accountability, curiosity, inclusion, and continuous learning.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity, evaluating emerging technologies, challenging assumptions, and becoming deeply knowledgeable in complex technical domains.

• Advanced degree in technology, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience working in a highly regulated, global enterprise environment, particularly where compliance, privacy, security, and risk are critical.
• Experience applying AI-enabled delivery, automation, and platform reuse to improve speed, quality, and business value.
• Recognized technical depth in areas such as AI/agent platforms, data platforms, developer experience, colleague-facing AI, or cybersecurity.
• Experience establishing or evolving enterprise-wide architecture standards and governance.
• Track record of building trusted relationships with senior executives and influencing decisions without relying solely on formal authority.
