R&D Software Engineer — ARIS Flows (Backend)

We are currently seeking an R&D Software Engineer — ARIS Flows (Backend) to join our team in Kosice, Slovakia. In this role, you will drive the design, development, and enhancement of ARIS Flows — our next-generation AI-powered workflow automation engine — working closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and customer support to translate complex business requirements into cutting-edge technical solutions.
Essential Functions

Technical implementation of innovative backend components for the ARIS Flows component, including AI integration (LLM orchestration, RAG pipelines, vector stores for service discovery).
Designing and extending the flow execution and trigger framework — including expression language evaluation, scheduler integration, and multi-tenant execution.
Applying AI-assisted development practices throughout the full software lifecycle, using tools like Claude Code for code generation, automated review, test authoring, and documentation.
Supporting the entire product lifecycle, from requirements analysis to testing and cloud deployment.
Working in an Agile software development process in international, cross-site teams.
Collaborating with UX experts, product management, and global support.
Enhancing and maintaining existing products.
Monitoring and triaging customer issues, troubleshooting and resolving defects.

Minimum Requirements

3–6 years of experience in software development.
Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Spring AI) and Maven-based build systems.
Basic understanding of modern AI technologies.
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) as part of your daily engineering workflow — not just familiarity, but fluency.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI) and CI/CD pipelines, vector stores, ANTLR-based DSLs, or workflow/BPM engines is a strong plus.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
