Job Title

Senior React Native Full Stack Developer - Immediate Joining

Job Summary Guidesly is looking for a Senior React Native developer to join our mobile team as an individual contributor, building and evolving our consumer and guide apps on iOS and Android. You will take ownership of features from design through release and ship polished, high-performance experiences that anglers and fishing guides rely on every day. We're looking for someone who is comfortable with a fast-moving environment, can learn quickly, and takes pride in apps that feel truly native.

Job Details As a Senior Developer, you will help develop the next generation of our apps using tools such as React.js, React Native, TypeScript, Gatsby and Webpack, backed by native iOS (Swift/Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin/Java) code where deeper platform integration is needed. You will work closely with Product, Design and Backend teams on features such as interactive maps of lakes, rivers and oceans, live fishing and weather reports, guide discovery, real-time booking and payments. You should be deeply familiar with React and its ecosystem; prior experience owning a production React Native codebase is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build pixel-perfect, buttery smooth UIs across both mobile platforms.
  • Leverage native APIs for deep integrations with both platforms.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance that feels native.
  • Reach out to the open source community to encourage and help implement mission-critical software fixes-React Native moves fast and often breaks things.
  • Maintain code and write automated tests to ensure the product is of the highest quality
  • Contribute to the architecture and technical decisions of the Guidesly mobile apps, follow and help refine coding standards, and take part in code reviews.
  • Write and maintain custom native modules and bridges in Swift/Objective-C (iOS) and Kotlin/Java (Android), and work with the React Native New Architecture (Fabric, TurboModules, JSI) and the Hermes engine.
  • Build location-aware features using maps and geolocation SDKs (e.g., Mapbox, Google Maps, Apple MapKit), including offline map data, background location and geofencing.
  • Integrate platform services such as push notifications (FCM/APNs), deep and universal links, in-app payments and booking flows (e.g., Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay), camera and photo libraries, and secure device storage.
  • Design offline-first experiences with robust caching, data synchronization and graceful handling of poor connectivity, which is common on lakes, rivers and remote waters.
  • Profile and optimize app performance (startup time, memory, battery, frame rate, bundle and binary size) using Flipper, Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler and React DevTools.
  • Take your features through the release process: manage builds, signing, certificates and provisioning, and ship to the App Store and Google Play, including staged rollouts, OTA updates and release monitoring.
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, EAS) to automate builds, testing and distribution across iOS and Android.
  • Monitor app health with crash reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, Amplitude or Mixpanel) and act on data to improve stability and engagement.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers on API design and integration across REST (and GraphQL where applicable), Node.js, Strapi and PostgreSQL services.
  • Ensure apps meet security, privacy and accessibility standards (secure authentication, OAuth/JWT, data encryption, VoiceOver/TalkBack support) and comply with App Store and Google Play guidelines.
  • Keep the app current with new React Native, iOS and Android releases, managing dependency upgrades, OS deprecations and new platform capabilities.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT) to speed up coding, refactoring, debugging, test generation and documentation, while carefully reviewing and validating all AI-generated code for quality, security and performance.
  • Build and integrate AI-powered features into the apps (e.g., LLM APIs, recommendations, smart search, on-device ML with Core ML, ML Kit or TensorFlow Lite) in collaboration with Product and Backend teams.
  • Contribute to DevOps practices for mobile: containerized and reproducible build environments, automated pipelines, environment and secrets management, and monitoring of releases and backend dependencies.
  • Share effective AI-assisted workflows, prompts and tooling practices with the team, and follow company guidelines on data privacy and the responsible use of AI tools with proprietary code.

Desired Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience into React Native, React JS, JavaScript development experience
  • Strong command of TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+), React Hooks, and component-driven architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with native iOS development (Swift, Objective-C, UIKit/SwiftUI, CocoaPods, Xcode) and native Android development (Kotlin, Java, Jetpack, Gradle, Android Studio).
  • Experience building and bridging native modules, and a working knowledge of the React Native New Architecture (Fabric, TurboModules, JSI) and Hermes.
  • Proficiency with state management and data-fetching libraries such as Redux / Redux Toolkit, Context API, MobX or Zustand, and React Query / Apollo.
  • Experience with React Navigation, animations (Reanimated, Gesture Handler, Lottie) and building responsive layouts across phone and tablet screen sizes.
  • Experience integrating maps, geolocation and weather or third-party data APIs (Mapbox, Google Maps, Apple MapKit) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging, APNs), in-app payments (Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay) and authentication (OAuth 2.0, JWT, social and biometric login).
  • Experience with app deployment: App Store Connect, Google Play Console, code signing, TestFlight, Firebase App Distribution and CI/CD tools such as Fastlane, GitHub Actions or Bitrise.
  • Solid testing experience with Jest, React Native Testing Library, and end-to-end tools such as Detox or Appium, plus unit tests on native code.
  • Skilled in debugging and performance profiling with Flipper, Xcode Instruments and Android Studio Profiler.
  • Familiarity with Git workflows, Agile/Scrum practices, and tools such as Jira and Figma for collaboration with product and design teams.
  • Knowledge of mobile security best practices: secure storage (Keychain/Keystore), certificate pinning, and protecting user data.
  • Ability to work independently, own features end to end, participate in code reviews, and make sound technical decisions.
  • Strong working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and ChatGPT, including effective prompting, AI-assisted code review, test generation and debugging, and the judgment to verify AI output.
  • Familiarity with building AI/LLM-powered features: calling LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic), streaming responses in mobile UIs, prompt design, and on-device ML (Core ML, ML Kit, TensorFlow Lite).
  • Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agentic coding workflows and AI-driven automation for development, testing and release tasks is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Fastlane, EAS), Docker, automated build and release workflows, environment and secrets management, and release monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms and services (AWS, Firebase, Google Cloud), including storage, serverless functions, CDN, and basic infrastructure-as-code concepts.
  • Experience with observability and production monitoring (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics, Datadog or similar), including alerting and root-cause analysis of app issues.
