Summary
Senior backend engineer at iwoca who owns the Lending API for Germany end-to-end: shaping the developer portal, partner tooling and docs, automating broker/CRM workflows, and mentoring engineers. Core stack is production Python (Django preferred; FastAPI/Flask acceptable) with PostgreSQL.
In this role, you will own the Lending API for Germany and drive its evolution to power partner integrations. You’ll shape the developer experience, manage the partner-facing tooling, and contribute to the broker onboarding journey. You’ll mentor teammates and set technical direction alongside product managers. This is a hands-on position with a strong impact on how partners convert and how quickly they can go live. You’ll work across cross‑functional teams to scale our introducer platform and deliver measurable value for SMEs.

- Deliver features that improve partner pre-qualification and reduce onboarding friction
- Automate broker funnel and internal CRM processes to shorten decision-to-action cycles
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and design sessions; contribute to team growth
- Define technical direction and roadmap in collaboration with product managers
- Coordinate with UK engineers to align API designs and ensure cross-country consistency
- Contribute hands-on engineering work while supporting team leadership and mentoring
- Backend engineering with production Python experience (Django preferred; FastAPI or Flask acceptable)
- Relational database experience (PostgreSQL) with emphasis on performance and maintainability
- API design and evolution for external dependencies, including versioning and change management
- End-to-end ownership from problem framing to production delivery
- Mentoring experience through code reviews and design sessions
- Experience leveraging AI to scale engineering output and automate workflows
