Senior Consultant - Full-stack Developer
Summary
Senior full-stack developer in EY's Belfast Digital Engineering team, building and delivering client products end-to-end — responsive UIs (React/Angular/Vue), robust APIs and backend services (Node.js/Java/Python/.NET), and databases — while mentoring junior developers, reviewing code, and presenting solutions to stakeholders and clients.
Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year
Requirements:
- Strong professional full-stack development experience, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.
- Strong backend development experience using Node.js, Java, Python, .NET or similar technologies.
- Proven ability to design and build scalable APIs and distributed systems.
- Solid experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Experience with testing frameworks, unit testing, integration testing and automated testing strategies.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, system design, maintainability and code quality.
- Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams and contributing to delivery planning and estimation.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practices would be beneficial.
- Exposure to NoSQL databases, microservices or event-driven architectures would be desirable.
- Strong leadership and technical decision-making ability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Confident communicator, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A mentor mindset with a passion for developing others and raising team capability.
- High level of ownership, accountability and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in and own the design, development and delivery of full stack products from user interfaces through to supportive backend databases.
- Build and maintain responsive, high-quality user interfaces using modern frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.
- Design and implement robust APIs and services, ensuring security, reliability and maintainability.
- Work closely with product teams to understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Present delivered features and technical solutions confidently to stakeholders and clients.
- Perform thorough peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback and maintaining high engineering standards.
- Support and lead non-functional improvements, including technical debt reduction, performance optimisation and creation of clear API documentation.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
