Software Engineer – Python (Test Automation)
Location: Pune / Hybrid] Employment Type: Full-time Experience Level: 5+ years
About the Role
We're looking for a Software Engineer with strong Python skills to build and maintain automated lab test software and the data pipelines that turn test results into actionable insight. You'll write software that drives real lab equipment and devices under test, debug failures across the stack, and analyze large result sets to surface trends, outliers, and patterns for engineering stakeholders.
This is not a web-application role. It's a mix of test automation engineering, hardware/lab interfacing, and data analysis.
What You'll Do
- Write clean, maintainable Python and own your work from design through delivery.
- Build and maintain automated lab test software, including regression, characterization, and related tooling.
- Clean, preprocess, and perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on large test datasets to identify trends, outliers, and patterns.
- Visualize results in Kibana (and similar tools) and summarize findings clearly for technical stakeholders.
- Ingest and store results in Elasticsearch and relational databases, keeping the data path reliable end-to-end.
- Debug test software, lab runs, and data pipelines when things go wrong.
- Review code and document setup and results so others can reproduce your work.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of experience in test automation, lab/hardware software, or data pipelines, with strong Python skills. (Application-only development experience is not sufficient for this role.)
- Solid object-oriented programming (OOP) skills in Python.
- Experience driving lab equipment and devices under test from software (e.g., gRPC, serial communication, or similar interfaces).
- Experience with data analysis and visualization on complex, real-world datasets (logs, CSVs, datalogs).
- Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana against real data — ingestion, querying, and dashboard building.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
- Proficiency with Git; experience with Perforce is a strong plus.
- Comfort working in Linux environments, including managing long-running jobs on shared machines.
- Clear written communication skills for working with technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Jenkins or similar CI tools.
- Ability to read C/C++ code, especially near firmware or hardware layers (C/C++ development not required).
- Experience with pandas, NumPy, and/or matplotlib.
- Familiarity with Docker and/or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Basic HTML/CSS/JavaScript for building reports (this is not a front-end role).
Soft Skills
-
Self-Motivation: Highly self-motivated and capable of thriving both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
-
Communication: Excellent verbal/written communication and documentation skills, comfortable contributing to high-level architectural discussions.
-
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, particularly when dealing with complex system architectures and safety-critical implementations.
What We Offer
-
Pre-IPO Stock Options: Own a piece of our future success as we scale toward our public offering.
-
Technology Depth & Breadth: Unparalleled opportunities for technological growth and hands-on exposure across embedded, networking, and AI domains that are rare in larger organizations.
-
Rapid Career Growth: Significant, merit-based opportunities to advance your career as our company expands.
-
Cutting-Edge Tech Stack: Work with the latest advancements in networking, embedded systems, and predictive analytics.
-
World-Class Team: Collaborate daily with highly skilled, passionate, and supportive industry professionals.
-
Competitive Compensation: A strong base salary package that truly reflects your expertise and contributions.
-
Work Flexibility: Enjoy flexible working hours to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
