Senior Engineer - Commissioning
Scope of Responsibilities
Hands-on leadership of a team of commissioning discipline engineers and operators in carrying out pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities. Provide necessary technical information for the other disciplines during the project. Coordinate the work within the budgeted man hours and project schedule.
Primary Duties
- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings, and other project documents and establish applicability to the scope of work.
- Carry out a detailed assessment of the commissioning work involved and assess the available resources and possible constraints in its execution.
- Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements, constraints, and risks.
- Be continually present on the field to guarantee the quality and progress of the work.
- Ability to perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox talks to execute the activities.
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at the bidding stage.
- Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to taking up the system for commissioning and ensure the setting up of safety procedures for the same.
- Ensure that all safety and precautionary requirements and procedures are followed during commissioning.
- Ability to lead subcontractors for the safe execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in line with the schedule.
- Be aware of cost monitoring, control expenses, and report overruns to management.
- Hold regular reviews of risk assessments and meetings with the client on issues such as HSE.
- Attend daily meetings with the commissioning coordinator and team leaders to update progress and receive daily reports.
- Regularly contact discipline engineers and supervisors for solving problems related to project execution work safely.
- Maintain regular communication with subcontractor execution teams.
- Liaise and coordinate with commissioning engineers and supervisors and provide them support and guidelines for technical commissioning-related issues.
- Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
Instruments
As leader of the entire instrument commissioning team, the senior engineer shall perfectly understand all instrument commissioning phases and have a strong engineering background in instrument field devices and control systems.
Able to guide technical issues to several engineers under his responsibility.
Direct the daily activities related to instrument SAT, loop testing, and functional testing.
Provide technical support and problem resolution on different control and safety systems: DCS, ESD, HIPPS, AMS, OPC communication.
Interact with QA/QC to ensure compliance with company quality procedures. Coordinate internal and client audit requests.
Identify any design failures or discrepancies that may be lessons learned for future projects and report the same via line management.
