Senior Engineer - Commissioning
Scope of responsibilities
Hands on leadership of a team of commissioning discipline engineers and operators in carrying out pre-commissioning/commissioning and start-up activities. Provide necessary technical information for the other disciplines during the project. Coordinate the work within the budgeted man hour and project schedule.
Primary duties
- Identify requirements and scope of work, review specifications, drawings and other documents of the project and establish applicability to the scope of work.
- Carry out a detailed assessment of the commissioning work involved and assess the available resources and possible constraints in its execution.
- Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements and constraints/risks.
- Be continually present on the field to guarantee the quality and progress of the work.
- Ability to perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox talk to executing the activities.
- Provide necessary inputs to commissioning proposals at the bidding stage.
- Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to taking up the system for commissioning and ensure the setting up of safety procedures for the same.
- Ensure that all safety and precautionary requirements and procedures are followed during the commissioning.
- Ability to lead subcontractor for the safe execution of pre-commissioning/commissioning activities in line with the schedule.
- Be aware of cost monitoring, control expenses, and report overruns to management.
- Hold regular review of risk assessment/meeting with the client on issues such as HSE.
- Attend daily meeting with commissioning coordinator and team leaders to update the progress and receive daily reports.
- Regularly contact discipline engineers and supervisors for solving problems related to project execution work safely.
- Regularly communicate with sub-contractor execution team.
- Liaise and coordinate with commissioning engineers and supervisors and provide them support and guidelines for technical commissioning related issues.
- Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as and when directed by the supervisor.
Electrical
- Able to guide technical issues to several electrical engineers and supervisors under his responsibility.
- Direct the daily activities related to electrical SAT, energisation and functional testing.
- Provide technical support and problem resolving on different electrical equipment: transformer, HV/LV switchboard, motors, relay protection systems.
- Interact with QA/QC to ensure compliance with company quality procedures. Coordinate internal and client audit requests.
- Able to analyze technical issues to initiate an appropriate corrective action and report the same to the direct line management.
- Able to interface with client as required, attend internal project meetings, ensure the progress of electrical commissioning discipline in accordance to schedule.
- Ensure all testing documents are available to the testing team and coordinate with field electrical engineering any corrective action required on the document.
- Identify any design failures or discrepancies that may be lessons learned for future projects and report same via line management.
