Education / Educación:
• Bachelor’s DegreeDesirable: Master's / Ph.D. or
Experience / Experiencia:
• More than 10 years professional experience in a similar industry, of which 2 years must be in management positions in various areas.
Specialized Knowledge (Desirable) / Conocimiento especializado (preferible):
• ISO 14001/45001 or similar accredited EHS Management system (leader or internal auditor)
• FDA, NFPA, ISO, INS, CCSS, NIOSH, ACGIH, SGA, MTSS, MinSal, MINAE, CSO, EPA and OSHA guidelines
• Lean manufacturing model and/or systematic problem-solving methodology
• Behavior based safety methologies.
• Current professional certification from recognized EH&S entities preferred.
Languages required for the position (Desirable) / Idiomas requeridos para el puesto (preferible):
• Spanish C2 and English Level B1-B2

Qualifications / Cualificaciones:
• Advanced knowledge of: Accident investigation techniques & prevention, Biological safety, Chemical safety, Radiation safety, Federal, state and local EH&S regulations, safety procedures, personal protective equipment, hazardous materials, and loss control & prevention theories, principles, practices & techniques.
• Skilled in developing and conducting EH&S related training and audit programs, including understanding EH&S Management systems and auditing practices.
• Experience with and practical knowledge of sustainability principles and application
• Applied knowledge and experience integrating environmental principles, practices, regulatory standards and requirements into business activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, business partner and advisor attitude
• Strong business and technical writing skills
• Project management skills, including senior level presentations and interactions
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities / Resumen de funciones y responsabilidades:
• Responsible for managing all activities performed by EH&S Staff at assigned facilities.
• Development and management of EH&S department goals and budgets.
• Coaches and develops EH&S staff to increase engagement and technical expertise. Evaluates workload across multiple sites to ensure that sites are staffed adequately, but ensuring lean principles are maximized.
• Development and implementation of corporate EH&S policies, programs, and training, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and international rules and regulations. Developing, modifying, and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect.
• Development of site specific EH&S performance metrics with operational leaders for assigned facilities. Promotes the value of EH&S across all business levels.
• Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to EH&S Staff.
• Champions, manages and implements corporate EH&S and sustainability initiatives at a regional level, ensuring understanding and partnership from direct stakeholders.
• Maintain communication with key stakeholders, liaise with regulatory authorities, monitor EH&S metrics and performance, while providing support and advice to operational teams at all business levels for all assigned facilities
• Support Emergency Response, Business Continuity and Sustainability initiatives and processes. Plans, coordinates, and oversees safety & evacuation drills. Provides and coordinates emergency response both during and after business hours. Follows up to ensure deficiencies are corrected timely.
• Oversees the maintenance of environmental health and safety files, manifests, and records. Compiles case studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use as reference material by company personnel.
• Administration and management of the company’s workers’ compensation program for US operations.
• Advises HR on employee relation's issues concerning safety performance discussions, accommodation for disabilities and fitness for duty.
• Plans and executes EH&S compliance audits to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure ongoing compliance with governing regulations; recommends, coordinates, and tracks implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures.
• Manages the investigations of unsafe conditions, industrial incidents and accidents, gathering and analysis of accident data, development and distribution of accident investigation reports, and preparation and submission of reports and associated data required by regulatory agencies; develops proactive solutions and tracks implementation of corrective actions
• Manages the Region’s ergonomic program, conducting and overseeing ergonomic evaluations and follow-up actions.
• Provides support and guidance to departments and regional sites on complex EH&S related issues.
• Maintains liaison with various government agencies and keeps abreast of new developments and regulations
