Senior Technical Business Analyst

With several initiatives underway to improve business systems, operational efficiency and digital capabilities, they are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to support the delivery of critical technology projects.

Your new role
This opportunity is ideal for a technically minded Business Analyst who enjoys getting into the detail of how systems work and interact.

You'll work across business and technology teams to understand requirements, investigate existing systems and help design practical solutions. The role requires someone comfortable navigating complex technical environments while maintaining a clear understanding of business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document business and technical requirements.
• Work with stakeholders to understand current systems, processes and pain points.
• Produce functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria and process documentation.
• Analyse system integrations, interfaces, APIs and data flows.
• Support data mapping, migration and reconciliation activities.
• Collaborate with developers, architects and testers to ensure technical solutions align with business needs.
• Identify gaps, dependencies, risks and opportunities for process improvement.
• Facilitate workshops and communicate technical concepts to a range of stakeholders.
• Support testing activities, defect management and implementation planning.
• Maintain clear documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst within complex IT environments.
• Essential: Previous experience working within wealth management, funds management or KiwiSaver environments.
• Experience gathering and documenting both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Practical experience with APIs, data mapping and systems integration.
• Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation, data structures and system workflows.
• Experience working on technology transformation, system upgrades or application implementation projects.
• Familiarity with SQL and data analysis would be advantageous.
• Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence or similar.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
