Summary

Senior VFX Artist at Liquidnitro Games (Hyderabad, on-site) creating real-time effects in Unity (VFX Graph/Shuriken) for a stylized mobile top-down action roguelike — combat/hit feedback, abilities, magic, environment and UI FX — while keeping effects readable and performant on mobile and mentoring junior artists.

About Us

Liquidnitro Games is India’s flagship live services and game production company, founded by industry veterans with a proven track record in producing massively successful games & live services. For game companies, studios, and publishers worldwide – we offer world-class game development expertise to power creativity, growth, and profitability in their games.

What’s in it?

As Senior VFX Artist you own the real-time effects and game-feel of a stylized top-down action roguelike for mobile (Unity) - hit feedback, abilities, magic, environment, and UI FX - that make the game read clearly and feel powerful, all within a tight performance budget. You will define the VFX language and help raise the effects bar across the team. Combat is relentless - dozens of enemies and auto-firing projectiles on screen at once - so readability under maximum particle load is the job, and live ops adds a recurring cadence of skin and event VFX.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Create real-time VFX for a Unity top-down game: combat and hit feedback, abilities, magic, environmental, and UI effects.

• Own the VFX language - the readability of gameplay-critical effects (telegraphs, AOE, status) at top-down distance.

• Balance spectacle against performance; VFX is often the single largest GPU cost, especially on mobile.

• Author effects in Unity (VFX Graph / Shuriken), including shaders, flipbooks, meshes, and trails.

• Partner with Design, Animation, and Audio so every ability reads as a cross-discipline composition.

• Define per-faction / per-ability VFX language and build reusable systems and libraries.

• Optimize and profile effects on target hardware; keep full-screen combat readable and within budget.

• Follow the review process; mentor junior VFX artists; troubleshoot art and tech issues.

Requirements

• 8-10+ years in game development in real-time VFX, with at least 4 shipped game titles on Unity.

• Proven ability to review VFX work and hold the effects quality bar - clear creative and technical feedback, demonstrated on shipped projects..

• Expert in Unity VFX (VFX Graph and/or Shuriken), shaders, and real-time effect authoring.

• Strong sense of timing, game-feel, and readability; a real understanding of combat feedback.

• Deep performance and optimization skills for mobile (fill-rate, overdraw, particle budgets).

• Good art fundamentals - motion, colour, shape, and light.

• Experience with top-down / isometric readability challenges is a plus.

• Excellent collaboration, communication, and time-management skills.

• Proactive, self-motivated, and receptive to feedback and direction.

Bonus

• Experience on action-roguelike / bullet heavy combat games..

• Houdini or procedural VFX and simulation skills.

• Technical-art crossover (custom shaders, tooling).

• AI-assisted or procedural VFX workflows.

• Experience mentoring or leading VFX artists.

• Experience defining a VFX style guide for a project.
