Position Summary

The Service Operations Assistant supports the Service Operations Manager in overseeing front-end operations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This position assists with supervising front-end associates, coordinating daily service activities, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The Service Operations Assistant helps drive customer satisfaction, associate engagement, and overall store performance.

Key Responsibilities Front-End Operations
  • Assist in coordinating daily front-end operations, including checkstands, self-checkout, customer service desk, and courtesy services.
  • Help ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained throughout the business day.
  • Monitor service levels and respond to operational needs to maintain an efficient checkout experience.
  • Assist with cash handling, register accountability, and front-end compliance procedures.
  • Support store opening, closing, and operational activities as assigned.
Customer Service
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and promote a customer-focused culture.
  • Assist customers with questions, concerns, refunds, exchanges, and special requests.
  • Resolve customer issues professionally and escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Promote customer loyalty through positive interactions and service excellence.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Assist with training, coaching, and developing front-end associates.
  • Help communicate company initiatives, operational priorities, and service expectations.
  • Monitor associate performance and provide feedback to support development.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Provide leadership coverage in the absence of the Service Operations Manager.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support cash control and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized front-end environment.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and assist in promoting a culture of safety.
Financial Performance
  • Support front-end productivity, labor management, and operational efficiency goals.
  • Assist with controlling operational expenses and minimizing losses.
  • Monitor supplies and operational resources to support department needs.
  • Support programs and initiatives that improve customer satisfaction and store performance.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous retail, grocery, customer service, or front-end experience required.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic cash handling, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate associates.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to move throughout the store to support operational needs.
