Service Technician - Class A

The Service Technician- Class A performs advanced diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of heavy-duty trucks and related equipment with minimal supervision. This position services as a technical leader within the Service Department, assisting in the training and development of Class B, Class C, and Intern technicians. The Class A Technician is responsible for accurately diagnosing complex issues, completing high-quality repairs, and supporting overall shop productivity and customer uptime.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnostics and Repair
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on engines, electrical systems, fuel systems, emissions systems, and drivetrains
  • Identify root causes of complex mechanical and electrical issues and complete repairs
  • Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild components using appropriate tools and measuring devices
  • Perform inspections of critical systems including brakes, steering, fuel, and suspension
  • Test repaired systems and components to verify proper operation
• Technical Leadership and Support
  • Assist in training and mentoring Class B, Class C, and Intern technicians
  • Provide guidance and support on complex diagnostic and repair issues
  • Inspect work in process and assist with quality control when needed
  • Collaborate with team members to improve shop efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support a positive and productive team environment
• Work Management and Documentation
  • Accurately document all diagnostics, repairs, and labor performed ("story writing").
  • Follow Company procedures for work orders, time tracking, and parts usage
  • Communicate repair status and additional needs to service advisors or management
  • Maintain productivity standards while ensuring quality workmanship
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and properly maintained
• Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements
  • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment
  • Maintain awareness of environmental and safety hazards in the shop
  • Participate in required training and certification programs
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Company and regulatory standards
