Software Developer- Contract Role

Job Responsibilities

• Participate in solution design discussions and recommend appropriate technical approaches to meet business and system requirements.
• Perform impact analysis, effort estimation, and technical feasibility assessments for application enhancements and new features.
• Develop and execute unit test cases, ensuring software quality prior to integration and deployment.
• Support integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment activities, and post-production validation.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects, production incidents, and performance issues within agreed service levels.
• Review application code to ensure compliance with architecture standards, secure coding practices, and organisational development guidelines.
• Implement software enhancements and optimise application performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Quality Assurance teams, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and release planning.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, deployment procedures, configuration details, and operational guides.
• Ensure applications comply with organisational security policies, regulatory requirements, and software governance standards.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to junior developers through code reviews and mentoring.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending modern development practices, tools, frameworks, and automation opportunities.
• Support production releases, application monitoring, and root cause analysis to ensure system stability and availability.
• Communicate technical progress, risks, dependencies, and implementation status effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
• Keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to support continuous innovation and delivery excellence.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintain enterprise-level applications based on business and technical requirements.
• Full Stack application development.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for backend development.
• Experience with frontend technologies such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience in developing and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
• Proficiency in relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Git and version control practices.
• Experience with build and dependency management tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience with application debugging, performance tuning, and optimisation.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and application security principles.
• Experience working with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is an advantage.
• Analyze functional and technical specifications and translate them into scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.
• Develop clean, reusable, and well-documented code in accordance with established coding standards and software engineering best practices.
