Software Engineer Embedded Staff
NewBe an early applicantIDEXX is seeking a low level Embedded Software Engineer within our Instrument Software Research and Development group to create embedded solutions that enable the control of complex electro-mechanical subsystems.
This position will work in a small cross functional team consisting of electrical engineers and other Low Level Embedded Software Engineers to design, implement, and validate new devices; in close coordination with application and system engineers. We operate in a complex, innovative, and exciting culture, to build and support a platform spanning multiple devices to accelerate our ability to deliver high-quality solutions to our customers.
This is an onsite position requiring full-time onsite presence at our Westbrook, ME location.
What you can expect in this role:
Designs, develops, and maintains Linux drivers, BSPs, and Yocto-based Linux distributions.
Write and maintain unit and integration tests. Contributes to CI pipeline development.
Supports software/firmware/hardware integration to deliver functional solutions.
Participates in the development of new product requirements, features and designs.
Creates design, release and other related software/system documentation.
Coordinates with development project teams throughout the design, prototype, and production release phases.
Actively supports software engineering functional excellence objectives.
What you'll need to succeed:
Proficiency with C/C++, bootloaders, and firmware development.
Scripting experience with Python and Bash in Linux operating systems.
Ability to debug issues across bring-up, validation, and production phases of programs.
Able to read and interpret board schematics.
Familiarity with various embedded protocols including but not limited to I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe, etc.
Must be a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision and driving tasks to completion.
Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually.
Fluency in the English language.
Effective verbal and written communications skills, as both a listener and a speaker.
Nice to have: Strong hands-on experience with Xilinx SoC/SoM architecture and build-tools.
Nice to have: Experience with Buildroot, CMake, Github Actions, TCL.
