Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin) to design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications. The role focuses on Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, IBM MQ, SQL, and complex production troubleshooting, with opportunities to work across the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
- Analyse and resolve complex legacy system defects and production issues.
- Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot SQL queries across Oracle/MySQL databases.
- Work with JMS/IBM MQ, REST/SOAP APIs, and enterprise integrations.
- Apply JUnit, TDD, code reviews, and software engineering best practices.
- Support AWS, CI/CD, Docker, and Git environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within an Agile/Scrum environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience with JUnit, TDD, and acceptance testing.
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with JMS/IBM MQ and REST/SOAP Web Services.
- Working knowledge of Linux, AWS, CI/CD, Docker, and Git.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with EJB, JPA/Hibernate, JBoss/WildFly, Kafka, or React.js.
- Experience with complex SQL query optimisation.
- Experience supporting and enhancing large-scale legacy applications.
