Software Engineer Manager

Summary

Software Engineering Manager leading teams that build and consolidate Ford's Global Order Management Services (GOMS) on Google Cloud Platform, delivering real-time order management for dealers and customers.

Order Fulfillment product group is the heart of the Ford ecosystem with enterprise capabilities such as vehicle Order Planning, Forecasting, Order Generation, Scheduling, Order Bank Management, Sales, and Dealer Management globally. In addition, we enable multiple Top Hats (VehACT, eCommerce, VISTA, GOALS, FordPro etc.) for Retail and Fleet Commercial customer experience journey.

GOMS – Global Order Management Services: We are building out the Global Order Bank service layer as the primary platform for order transactions across Order Fulfillment order banks for all Top Hats. This includes Order Manager services like create, amend, contract, cancel, status/config updates, and inventory search capabilities. Today, order management services are fragmented across multiple applications. This role will help drive consolidation into GOMS by combining, deprecating, or migrating services into a single platform. The objective is to deliver a seamless customer experience real-time search and support Order-to-Delivery availability.

Software Engineering Manager will:

  • Apply technology to solve business problems
  • Apply software skills to build solutions that address pain points for Dealers, Customers & internal users
  • Design and deliver industry-leading products and services to maximize value and productivity for customers
  • Engage with other stakeholders & teams across Order Fulfillment, eCommerce, FordPro, Scheduling, and GTS

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions.
  • Drive engineering excellence through strong architecture, quality, testing, CI/CD, and operational practices.
  • Lead software engineering team members in delivering Order Management services to dealers and retail customers.
  • Establish and reinforce software engineering standards, including clean code practices, test driven development, and quality-first delivery.
  • Promote responsible use of AI across the SDLC, including requirements analysis, code generation, test automation, documentation, SRE, and release readiness.
  • Evaluate emerging AI tools and workflows to improve developer productivity while maintaining engineering rigor, governance, and accountability.
  • Apply Agile practices to support effective and predictable software delivery.
  • Clearly communicate technology and product strategy, vision, and priorities to team members.
  • Partner with the Lead Product Owner to coordinate the quarterly prioritization process.
  • Apply Lean Product Management principles and techniques, such as the build-measure-learn loop, to continuously improve solution delivery.
  • Oversee implementation of new initiatives and provide assessment and reporting on health to governance stakeholders.
  • Manage dependencies with interfacing systems, including identification and mitigation of risks and issues.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and direction to software engineers to support growth and performance.
  • Maintain ownership of the roadmap and backlog to ensure alignment with business priorities.

Required Skills:

Functional & Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience with front end and backend software technologies
  • Extensive experience working on Google Cloud and Digital platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to drive development of highly technical services and capabilities
  • Experience with Lean and Agile methodologies
  • Experience collaborating with product managers, engineers, designers, and product owners
  • Demonstrated ability to drive highly available customer ready digital products
  • Ability to build new APIs & reuse existing APIs as needed

Required Work Experience:

  • 7-10 years of technology experience, with at least 3+ years of experience leading and managing software engineering product teams
  • Prefer 3+ years of hands-on experience with full stack software technologies such as Java, SpringBoot, Kotlin, JavaScript, React and cloud platforms like GCP
  • Experience leading teams of 10 to 15 people
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent engineering degree.
