Job Description Summary

As a Staff DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical leadership role in GE Vernova Grid Software's mission of enabling a more sustainable, reliable, and resilient energy future by defining and executing the DevOps strategy across the Transmission portfolio, spanning both heritage products and GridOS-based solutions. You will drive the transformation of software delivery practices, modernize build and release ecosystems, establish enterprise-scale CI/CD standards, and accelerate engineering productivity through automation, cloud-native platforms, and DevSecOps practices.

Leveraging deep expertise in DevOps, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, automation, release engineering, observability, and platform engineering, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable engineering systems that enable reliable, secure, and predictable software delivery across a diverse product portfolio. You will partner closely with engineering leaders, architects, product teams, cybersecurity teams, and infrastructure organizations to establish common DevOps frameworks, deployment standards, and operational excellence practices.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical leadership, hands-on implementation experience, and a proven track record of driving large-scale DevOps transformations across complex enterprise software environments.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the DevOps vision, strategy, roadmap, and implementation across the Transmission Software portfolio, including both heritage EMS/SCADA products and GridOS-native applications.
  • Lead the standardization and modernization of CI/CD platforms, build systems, release pipelines, artifact management, and deployment automation across multiple product lines.
  • Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices, integrating security scanning, compliance checks, vulnerability management, and policy enforcement into engineering workflows.
  • Establish enterprise-wide standards for source control, branching models, automated testing, release governance, environment management, and deployment processes.
  • Partner with engineering teams to enable cloud-native development practices leveraging containers, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform engineering principles.
  • Design and implement scalable automation frameworks that improve developer productivity, reduce manual effort, and accelerate software delivery cycles.
  • Lead modernization initiatives to transition legacy build, deployment, and release processes toward highly automated and self-service platforms.
  • Partner with product engineering and quality organizations to achieve best-in-class automation coverage, deployment reliability, release quality, and operational readiness.
  • Define and track key DevOps metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR, pipeline efficiency, and engineering productivity.
  • Drive implementation of observability solutions including logging, monitoring, alerting, tracing, and operational dashboards across portfolio products.
  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and platform teams to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable engineering environments.
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, implementation guidance, mentoring, and coaching of DevOps engineers and development teams.
  • Champion Agile, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Platform Engineering best practices throughout the organization.
  • Partner with global engineering teams to improve release predictability, deployment consistency, operational excellence, and customer delivery outcomes.
  • Drive portfolio-wide initiatives to reduce technical debt, improve developer experience, and establish a modern software delivery ecosystem.
