Why This Role Matters:

We are seeking an experienced Staff Mobile Engineer to provide technical leadership for our mobile platform and shape the long-term architecture of our mobile applications. You will drive engineering strategy, solve complex technical challenges, influence technical direction across teams, and raise the engineering bar through mentorship and technical excellence.

How You'll Contribute:

Technical Leadership

  • Define and evolve the long-term architecture for React Native and native iOS applications.

  • Lead architecture reviews and establish engineering standards and best practices across the mobile platform.

  • Drive critical technical decisions around scalability, performance, security, and developer productivity.

  • Design reusable platform components and native modules that improve engineering velocity.

  • Partner with engineering leadership to shape the mobile technology roadmap.

Development & Delivery

  • Lead the implementation of complex, business-critical mobile initiatives.

  • Improve application performance, reliability, memory usage, and battery efficiency.

  • Drive testing strategy, release quality, and CI/CD improvements across the mobile platform.

  • Champion observability, monitoring, and operational excellence for mobile applications.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Mentor senior and junior engineers while growing technical capability across the organization.

  • Partner with Product, Design, Backend, Platform, and Security teams to deliver scalable solutions.

  • Lead technical planning for cross-team initiatives and build alignment on architectural decisions.

  • Document architectural decisions, technical standards, and engineering best practices.

What We're Looking For:

Technical Skills

  • 8+ years of professional mobile development experience.

  • 5+ years of production React Native development.

  • Expert proficiency in Swift and native iOS development.

  • Deep understanding of iOS SDK, UIKit, SwiftUI, application lifecycle, memory management, and concurrency.

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern React Native architecture.

  • Experience designing scalable mobile architectures, reusable platform components, and styling systems using Uniwind/Tailwind.

  • Strong understanding of mobile security, performance optimization, and reliability.

Platform Expertise

  • Experience leading architecture for large-scale production mobile applications.

  • Expertise in App Store release management and mobile platform governance.

  • Strong understanding of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.

  • Experience balancing React Native and native development based on technical requirements.

  • Knowledge of mobile security best practices, encryption, deep linking, push notifications, and background processing.

Tools & Practices

  • Git version control and collaborative workflows.

  • RESTful APIs and GraphQL integration.

  • Testing frameworks and mobile automation strategies.

  • CI/CD tools (Expo, GitLab).

  • Performance monitoring and observability tools.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Android development (Kotlin/Java).

  • Contributions to open-source mobile projects.

  • Experience with Firebase, Sentry, or similar monitoring platforms.

  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG, VoiceOver).

  • Familiarity with mobile analytics and A/B testing platforms.

Compensation:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $190,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $250,000/year plus bonus in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
