Staff / Principal Engineer (Infrastructure)

Summary

Leads and manages enterprise IT infrastructure (servers, networks, cloud, data centers) in Singapore, ensuring uptime, security, and compliance while mentoring a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the organisation's IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, data centres/co-location facilities, and cloud environments.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers, system administrators, and IT support staff.

• Own IT service availability, performance, and capacity planning; ensure SLAs for uptime and incident response are consistently met.

• Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans, including regular testing and documentation.

• Oversee IT security operations in partnership with the security team — patch management, endpoint protection, access controls, and vulnerability remediation.

• Manage relationships with vendors and managed service providers (ISPs, cloud providers, hardware/software vendors, data centre operators), including contract negotiation and performance review.

• Develop and manage the IT infrastructure budget, including hardware/software procurement and lifecycle planning.

• Ensure infrastructure and IT operations comply with relevant Singapore regulations and standards (e.g. PDPA, MAS Technology Risk Management guidelines for regulated entities, IMDA requirements) and support internal/external audits.

• Drive IT infrastructure projects such as office setups/relocations, network upgrades, cloud migrations, and system consolidations.

• Maintain and improve IT policies, standard operating procedures, and documentation for infrastructure and end-user computing.

• Manage on-call rotations and incident escalation processes; lead post-incident reviews and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems administration, with at least 3 years in leading a team.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

• Strong hands-on knowledge of server administration (Windows Server)

• Proven track record designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-scale infrastructure

• Experience managing incidents, outages, and disaster recovery processes

• Experience working with cross-functional teams (security, application development, business stakeholders)

• Understanding of IT security best practices, including patch management, endpoint protection, and access control.

• Experience managing IT budgets and vendor contracts.
