Supervisory Program Analyst (Inspections)

Summary

Supervises a team conducting inspections and audits of DHS programs to detect waste, fraud, and mismanagement, ensuring compliance and improving efficiency.

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office whose mission is to promote excellence, integrity, and accountability throughout the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In our dynamic environment, the OIG conducts investigations, audits, evaluations, and inspections to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency and to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and mismanagement in DHS programs and operations.

Being a Supervisory Program Analyst (Inspections) makes you a valuable member of the DHS OIG Office of Inspector General. This position serves as a Supervisory Program Analyst (Inspections) over an inspection, evaluation, and/or special review team consisting of program analysts responsible for planning and conducting inspections, evaluations, or special reviews of DHS programs, functions, and operations. Typical assignments include: Develops or modifies objectives, work plans, guidelines, scope, methods, staff requirements, and time schedules to meet project needs. Oversees report preparation and ensures effectiveness of presentation, adequacy of supporting data, and conformance with policies and standards. Develops annual and long-range project plans, provides technical advice and guidance to subordinate staff for project activities and coordination functions, and maintains close liaison with Department program and management officials in the areas of assigned responsibility. Reviews proposals and analytical questions, work papers, and reports to ensure, (a) adherence to the work plan and prescribed policies and standards, and (b) the quality and effectiveness (especially in the areas of content, clarity, and conciseness) of individual work products. Directs revisions, or other corrective actions, to draft reports and testimony, where deemed necessary. Other duties as assigned.
