System Analyst / Analyst Programmer
Salary: $35,000 – $40,000 per month
About the role
This is a remote-first position based in Hong Kong, with ad-hoc onsite visits to client sites across the city as required. You will play a key role in the full software development lifecycle — from understanding business needs to delivering quality systems — working closely with public sector bodies, local SME clients, developers, and project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Gather, analyse, and document business and system requirements from clients across the public sector and local SMEs
Design system workflows, data models, and functional specifications tailored to varied operational and compliance environments
Develop, maintain, and enhance software applications in collaboration with the development team
Conduct system testing, UAT coordination, and defect tracking
Provide technical support and troubleshooting during and after project delivery
Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution
Participate in project planning and contribute to estimation and scheduling
About you
Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a System Analyst, Analyst Programmer, or similar role
Proficient in at least one programming language or technology stack (e.g. Java, Python, .NET, SQL, PHP, or equivalent); working knowledge of others is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Fluent in spoken Cantonese (native or near-native level) — essential for day-to-day client communication
Proficient in written Chinese and English — both are required for documentation and correspondence
Self-motivated, able to work independently in a remote environment, and comfortable with occasional travel across Hong Kong for onsite engagements
