C# .Net Developer
Summary
Sakura Games is seeking a C#/.NET Backend Developer to build and maintain high-load microservices for a AAA mobile shooter. The role focuses on distributed system architecture, performance optimization, and infrastructure management using technologies like Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
We are a Cyprus-based game development outsourcing studio operating since 2018. We develop full-cycle mobile games and also support live titles, build prototypes, and handle porting projects.
We have recently started developing a AAA mobile shooter - a mobile adaptation of a well-known PC game. We are looking for an experienced and self-sufficient C#/.NET Backend Developer to join the project.
The main focus of the role will be backend development, microservice architecture, system stability, and performance.
C# and .NET
- 5+ years of commercial C#/.NET development experience with high-load online services.
- Expert-level knowledge of asynchronous programming, multithreading, memory management and garbage collection, Core, and production profiling - deep enough to make architectural decisions, identify the root causes of complex issues, and review other developers’ code.
- In-depth knowledge of .NET 10, including performance, new features, CLR internals, async/await, and multithreading.
- Practical application of engineering best practices and patterns, including Clean Architecture, DDD, and SOLID.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining REST, gRPC, and WebSocket APIs.
- Experience with UDP and unsafe code.
Architecture and distributed systems
- Experience designing distributed systems, including service and transaction boundaries, idempotency, eventual consistency, and behavior during partial failures.
- Proven experience scaling distributed systems under load, starting from several thousand requests per second and tens of thousands of concurrent connections, with specific examples of identified and resolved bottlenecks.
- Ability to identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks before they affect players.
- Experience building fault-tolerant systems, preventing cascading failures between services, and implementing controlled degradation under overload.
- Experience designing data schemas around real business processes and access patterns.
Data and storage
- Strong PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server skills, including query writing and optimization, indexing, execution plans, locking, and migrations on live databases under load.
- Experience with non-relational databases such as MongoDB or similar technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Redis, including data structures, cache invalidation strategies, and the limitations of distributed locks.
- Experience with event streaming and message brokers such as Kafka, NATS, or RabbitMQ, including delivery guarantees, partitioning, duplicate handling, retries, and dead-letter queues.
Infrastructure and operations
- Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes, including resource requests and limits, probes, HPA, StatefulSets, autoscaling, and troubleshooting cluster issues.
- Experience building and deploying containerized services with Docker.
- Strong working knowledge of at least one cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience independently building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or TeamCity, including build, test, and deployment stages.
- Practical observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, distributed tracing, and centralized logging, including the ability to build production dashboards and alerts.
Quality and development practices
- Experience writing automated unit and integration tests.
- Strong experience with version control systems and code review practices.
Nice to have
- Game backend development experience, including game sessions, matchmaking, server authority, and orchestration of stateful game servers.
- Experience operating real-time multiplayer systems under load.
- Experience integrating gaming platforms and services such as Epic Online Services, PlayFab, and platform stores.
- Part-time\full-time remote work.
- Salary in $.
- Zero bureaucracy, minimal micromanagement and streamlined approvals.
- Small friendly agile teams.
- English lessons in groups of 3-4 participants.
