Engineer (Sr/Staff/Consult/Principal) - I&C Design

SUMMARY

The Design Engineer position assumes responsibility for the development, implementation and administration of assigned projects and programs. Essential responsibilities for this position include providing design products in support of Station priorities and operations and maintenance organization needs. The design products are essential to disposition of degraded/non-conforming conditions and to maintain plant reliability. Engineering deliverables include products such as engineering changes, specifications, calculations and documented engineering evaluations.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Required). Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil or Nuclear Engineering is preferred.

• Master’s degree in technical discipline equivalent to 1 year of experience.

• PhD in technical discipline equivalent to 2 years experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• No certifications/license are required.

• Texas Professional Engineering License is preferred.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for design, research, maintaining documentation, and process improvement.

• Collaborate with Key Stakeholders on design projects.

• Prepares/reviews complex safety evaluations and significant hazards review for plant issues.

• Prepares/reviews degraded/non-conforming component dispositions. Evaluates the extent of the condition and its effect on ability to perform the required design function.

• Prepares/reviews causal investigations to condition reports for completeness and required actions.

• Prepares/reviews/approves engineering documentation (e.g.: calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, evaluations, etc.).

• Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to the Station and identify appropriate actions to take.

• Ensures applicable activities are maintained within allocated schedule and budget.

• Performs duties of the Section Supervisor as delegated.

• Prepares and delivers Management level reports on specific tasks.

• Prepares/reviews Reportability and operability reviews of station issues are evaluated to applicable regulatory requirements

• Perform reviews of operating experience reports and license amendment changes. As required, prepare technical reports to be submitted to EPRI, INPO, and NRC.

• Provide engineering expertise when required to support complex plant issues or requests for assistance from other site organizations.

• Attends and completes station, department or section required training as necessary for the position and as assigned.

• Obtains and maintains unescorted access to support plant needs.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accept ERO position as assigned and be able to meet the time response requirements.

• Accept outage position as assigned.

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION POSTED

• Strong written and verbal communications skills required.

• Ability to work independently and interface with all levels of personnel required.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.

• Experience with power plant piping specification, design and construction.

• Knowledge of design, operations, maintenance, and testing, preferably nuclear power.

• Ability to use a personal computer and use of word processing and spreadsheet software.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Hybrid work-from-home schedule currently available to Engineers upon obtaining necessary qualifications.

• Overtime and alternate work schedules as assigned.

• Office environment and working inside plant buildings with periodic visits to other offices and company property.

• Support rotational engineering duty. Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.

• Travel (including overnight stay) may be required for business trips and training.

EXPERIENCE • 3 to 5 years engineering or maintenance or operations experience in which two years is nuclear power related (Required)

Design Engineer Staff/Spec Eng Staff

EXPERIENCE • 5 to 8 years engineering or maintenance or operations experience in which two years is nuclear power related (Required)

Design Engineer Consulting/Spec Engineer Consult

EXPERIENCE • 10 years engineering or maintenance or operations experience in which two years is nuclear power related (Required)

Design Engineer Principal/Spec Eng Principal

EXPERIENCE • 12 years engineering or maintenance or operations experience in which two years is nuclear power related (Required)

Note: One (1) year experience may be credited for an engineering Master’s Degree, two (2) years’ experience may be credited for

an engineering PhD degree. Engineering intern experience may be credited one-for-one for engineering experience, i.e., 1 month

engineering internship may count as 1 month engineering experience at the discretion of the cognizant Engineering Manager.
