Full-Stack Tech Lead (React Native, TypeScript, Node, Next.JS))

Summary

Approximately €120,000 plus share options

Creo is working exclusively with a venture-backed technology company that is entering an important stage of product and commercial growth.

The business has developed a data-driven consumer platform with an established user base and significant ambitions for its next phase. Following recent investment, it is strengthening its technology leadership and preparing the platform and engineering function for further scale.

They are looking for a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead a small, established development team and take ownership of technical direction, architecture and delivery.

The opportunity:

This is the company’s most senior engineering position, combining technical leadership, people management and direct contribution to the product.

You’ll work closely with the founders and wider product organisation to establish clear technical priorities, improve how the team operates and ensure the platform is ready to support the company’s growth plans.

This is not a purely strategic or managerial appointment. You’ll remain closely involved in architecture, system design, code and delivery while helping the engineers around you perform at their best. As the business and team grow, there will be scope for the position to develop into a broader technology leadership role.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading, supporting and developing a small engineering team.
  • Setting the technical direction and converting business priorities into an achievable engineering roadmap.
  • Remaining hands-on with architecture, system design, coding and delivery.
  • Improving engineering processes without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Strengthening the platform’s scalability, security and reliability.
  • Creating a clearer approach to technical prioritisation and managing technical debt.
  • Helping the team use AI-assisted development tools effectively and responsibly.
  • Partnering with product and specialist stakeholders to turn complex requirements into straightforward user experiences.
  • Communicating technical decisions, risks and trade-offs to non-technical colleagues.
  • Supporting future recruitment and helping shape the engineering organisation as it grows.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll be a technically strong engineering leader who enjoys building products and developing people.

You could currently be working as a Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Lead Engineer or senior individual contributor with meaningful leadership responsibilities. We are more interested in the scale of problems you have solved and the responsibility you have taken than your current title or number of years in the industry.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience leading, mentoring or developing software engineers.
  • Strong software architecture and system-design capabilities.
  • The ability and willingness to make a substantial hands-on contribution.
  • Experience building and evolving web, mobile or data-driven products.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, deployment and platform reliability.
  • The judgement to balance speed, technical quality and commercial priorities.
  • Experience working in a startup, scale-up or similarly fast-moving product environment.
  • A practical perspective on AI-assisted software development.
  • Clear communication and the confidence to challenge constructively.

Experience with consumer applications, subscription products, data-led platforms or science-informed products would be useful, but isn’t essential.

You don’t need to meet every point. The company is open to an established engineering manager or a senior technical leader ready to take on their first full engineering leadership position.

What’s on offer:

  • A salary of approximately €120,000, depending on experience.
  • Share options offering genuine participation in the company’s future growth.
  • Significant influence over technical direction, engineering culture and product delivery.
  • The opportunity to lead an established team while remaining close to the technology.
  • Direct access to the founders and involvement in important company-level decisions.
  • A role with the scope to grow alongside the engineering organisation.
  • Hybrid working in Dublin.
