Senior Character Concept Artist
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Character Concept Artist to create visually striking, attractive, and memorable characters for our game projects.
You will design mature adult characters with strong visual appeal, distinctive personalities, appealing silhouettes, confident poses, and high-quality rendering. The role requires mature artistic judgment in anatomy, beauty, fashion, costume design, and tasteful sensuality.
We welcome artists from realistic, semi-realistic, Korean, Japanese, Western fantasy, card-game, and commercial illustration backgrounds. A single fixed art style is not required. What matters most is your ability to create appealing characters, deliver polished commercial-quality artwork, and adapt to different project directions.
Responsibilities
- Design high-quality adult characters, including heroes, villains, companions, and NPCs.
- Explore character silhouettes, body proportions, faces, hairstyles, costumes, equipment, weapons, and accessories.
- Create thumbnails, sketches, design variations, color explorations, and polished final character concepts.
- Develop characters with strong visual appeal while supporting their personality, narrative role, and world-building.
- Create character illustrations, hero artwork, key art, splash art, and other promotional assets when required.
- Establish clear design language and maintain consistency across characters and related visual assets.
- Provide production-ready references, callouts, and design documentation for 3D artists and animators.
- Work closely with art directors, game designers, 3D artists, animators, VFX artists, and production teams.
- Review character artwork, communicate clear feedback, and support outsourcing or junior artists when required.
- Take ownership of assigned work from initial exploration through iteration and final delivery.
- Use traditional, 3D-assisted, and AI-assisted workflows responsibly to improve exploration and production efficiency.
- Ensure that all work meets the project’s artistic, technical, and scheduling requirements.
Requirements
- Professional experience as a Character Concept Artist, Concept Artist, Character Designer, or Senior Illustrator in games or related entertainment industries.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating attractive and memorable adult character designs.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, body proportions, gesture, posing, facial structure, and expression.
- Mature artistic judgment in beauty, fashion, character appeal, and tasteful sensuality.
- Strong ability to design appealing adult female characters across different themes and settings.
- Excellent knowledge of costume design, shape language, materials, color, lighting, and composition.
- Ability to balance visual appeal with character personality, narrative purpose, and production requirements.
- Ability to produce both exploratory character concepts and highly polished commercial artwork.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, or equivalent digital art software.
- Ability to interpret an established art direction while contributing original and practical design ideas.
- Ability to work independently, manage feedback, and deliver high-quality work within production schedules.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to learn and work with AI-assisted creative tools as part of the production pipeline.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on successful mobile, PC, console, card-game, or animation projects.
- Experience creating hero illustrations, splash art, key art, promotional artwork, or visual development.
- Experience with realistic or semi-realistic character styles.
- Familiarity with Blender, ZBrush, Maya, Unreal Engine, Unity, or other 3D-assisted concept workflows.
- Understanding of 3D character production, including modeling references, costume construction, material callouts, and character turnarounds.
- Experience working with fantasy, science-fiction, contemporary fashion, post-apocalyptic, or stylized character themes.
- Experience reviewing outsourcing work or mentoring other artists.
- Experience defining character style guides or contributing to visual quality standards.
- Credits on at least one shipped game or commercial entertainment project.
- Experience working in an international or multicultural production team.
